Introduce yourself

That’s cool you are interested in crypto and blockchain, what piqued your interest? What do you hope to do with the knowledge gained from this course?

That is really awesome that you want to use blockchain to make energy cleaner. I’m just curious, how could blockchain help accomplish this? Are you wanting to use blockchain so that small communities can use the same energy source (like a communal solar field)?

What your pursuing sounds very interesting, I hope you find success in your endeavor!

What I am focusing on currently is the idea of transactive energy. Using micro grids ( people producing energy locally and distributing it to the nearest neighbors or storage structure) it becomes quickly clear to see that a distributed ledger mixed with a smart contracts and the proper oracles could provide some of the needed digital frameworks that will be required

Can you explain a bit more what you mean about financial services for municipalities?

As a software engineer who likes to work on the cutting edge technologies, I hope to become a blockchain developer, because blockchain is the cutting edge technology right now.

@VictorJ
So if I understand, you want to use blockchain to track who is sending and receiving electricity, and how much? With smart contracts and oracles are you wanting to also implement a payment system that is kept within each community? I hope you don’t mind all my questions :sweat_smile:

As to your question: A municipal is defined as a small government, think of the city of New York, or Chase Bank. A financial service is essentially the ability to move funds. What I, and the company I’m working for, want to do is establish protocols for the blockchain to be able to interact with traditional financial services to empower these municipals, giving them more freedom to grow and thrive.

@Val
That is so great you are willing to press forward with cutting edge technology! Are there any companies or movements that you are particularly interested in? Or are you just wanting to learn at the moment, and see what opportunities present themselves as you gain skills?

Hey I’m Bret! From Rogers, AR USA.

I’ve been a Full Stack Senior Software Engineer for about 5 years (with longer background in Java) - just super interested in learning to program blockchain and crypto related stuff!

@Harmony
No particular company yet in mind. My plan is to enter “blockchain” in search results and apply for a few companies I like. I also have an idea for a new crypto so this course should help me start developing it.

@val cool! I’d love to hear more about your idea.

Hello all!

My name is Yannis, I come from Greece and I work in the UK as a Senior Penetration Tester. I’ve been interested deeply in blockchain technology for the last 2 years and invested in many crypto (some shitcoins too :P).
Thanks Ivan for organizing this community and for your technical content! I am excited being a member!

All the best,
Yannis

Hey!

My name is Mandela and I come from Finland. Really interested in blockchain technology and figured out the best way to learn is to go deep and learn the basics of programming. Zero knowledge in coding but I am dedicated to do the work and learn!

Goal is to learn how smart contracts work in action so I can someday start my own projects.

That’s awesome! Do you have any project ideas yet?

Hello All,
My name is Gary, in Greenwood Village, Colorado. I’m not new to computers or programming, but, I am to blockchain and trading in Crypto. I’m an older guy, 55, but, had my first computer tech job at 16, 39 years ago. I had a decent sized retail store selling liquidation factory refurbs and building clones in Plano, TX in the mid 90s. I should have been watching and up on this Crypto stuff from the beginning. That’s ok, it looks like I’ve found a great place to learn. I’ve only been investing in Bitcoin so far and really only for a little over a month. Ivan’s live Youtube broadcast has helped significantly. They’ve kind of helped me know how much I don’t know. But, I’ll learn. So many others out there I’ve watch just seem like a waste of time. But, Ivan is clear, to the point, well educated and is where I go to kind of sift through all the hype and junk out there on the topic. Anyway, thrilled to be here and let’s get learning.
Adding a little. I see most people are talking about their personal lives as well. So, I’m adding to this. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial tendency. From the time I was about 12, I always had something going to turn into a business. I’ve worked in several technology related jobs. Auctions became a passion when I was in my early 20s. I was working as a component level test and repair tech for DSC Communications in Plano, TX(later bought out by Alcatel), and was less than thrilled about working in a corporate environment. I set some money aside, went to a live auction and tripled my money in 3 weeks. Within 6 months, I had about 20x my original investment and left my job and have done my own businesses since. I acquired my Ham radio license when I was 12. I flew gliders and power planes starting about that age and soloed in gliders at 14 and power planes on my 16th birthday, before I got my driver’s license. My father was an Air Force and commercial pilot and my instructor. After the Air Force, he flew for Pan AM, United and Netjets. Flying for free, I traveled a lot around the world in my teens. I even got the chance to fly and land a Locheed 10-11 simulator in Worthing, England on a training trip he took. I love the outdoors. I hike, windsurf, surf, spearfish, dive, kayak, water ski, snow ski, even designed and used a windsurf sail attached to my skateboard. I had a windsurf rental and school in TX for one summer and became pretty good with windsurfing. I was married. Had a great marriage and 3 kids, now 2 grand-kids. I’d moved my family to a house across from the beach in NW Florida. I made a mistake and attempted a Wireless ISP startup. It went under, I lost everything and the stress caused my marriage to fail. I’m kind of rebuilding now. I’ve been in real estate, web development, but, always tend to make my money in the computer and electronics liquidation areas. Probably more than anyone wants to read. But, there it is :slight_smile:

Hey Ivan, My name is Chase. I have been following Blockchain and Cryptocurrency for the past 3 years. In that time, I have focused on the history of money and what makes it valuable and learning more about governments/political systems. I have been listening to your youtube channel for the past year.

Overtime, I have become more critical of Dapp platforms like Ethereum and the practicality of smart contracts and also the value of many tokens on other platforms and their use case, but am here hoping you can convince me otherwise! I hope to learn more about the technicalities of blockchain and programming in this course!

Hello!
My name’s Laura I’m a physiotherapy student from Poland, I’m interested in gaining some IT knowledge for future career, in case mine doesn’t work out :wink:
Nice to get to know you guys!
Have a good day!

I am late in the game so there are lots of different projects operating in this space, but I have my own ideas that I want to learn about trying to implement.

You have the bones of it correctly.

Everyone in each community would either be able to produce or consume a portion (ideally 100%!) of their electricity needs through a combination of passive energy production and the use of an open source public network for the routing of electrical grid pathways and ledgers that will track everyones usage and production whilst also facilitating the actual live process of energy exchange.

In my mind the best way to do this may be through a series of state channels that all connect to a larger grid network in order to remove zones of over inflated electricity costs as compared to other areas with average or even cheaply priced electricity. That would be my first step if I were to actually launch this idea, tackling deregulated energy market would allow every participant in the network to benefit from green technology and overall efficiency advancement regardless of the relative geo location they reside in. Taking arbitrage out of the consumer retail, and even industrial electricity markets, would help our societies capitalize on the overall bullish growth of renewable energy.

Just my early ideas as an aspiring sustainability advocate that wants to change the world! If anyone is able to take this idea and beat me to it, I would greatly applaud your brilliance and initiative!!

I come from an environmental science background with focuses in sustainable development, so I believe we will need a complex system such as I have begun to describe that will be able to revolutionize the way people think about how we obtain the power that courses through our outlets to power our homes, businesses, and overall infrastructure.

Hello, my name is Jonny and I’ve been following crypto for about two years now. I initially enrolled in the academy in its first pre-sale but I had to take a step back as I’ve had a lot of important exams this past year. I’m planning on studying Computer Science at University and I am using this as a chance to learn some valuable things which I know I will not be taught any where else.

Hello everyone, I’m Craig from the UK I got involved and invested in crypto in January 2018 been following different projects and influencers ever since. I’m old school 46 I missed out on the growth of tech as I have zero coding experience but I don’t want to miss out on the next wave - blockchain. I’m looking to develop skills in c++ smart contracts and enjin/unity from the pro Ivan and his team. Glad to be apart of the academy :+1: I’m committed full time and understand its a long process but looking forward and hoping to create a blockchain game.
