Continuing to invest in cryptocurrency is one! Iām also spending down time at work learning new skills, as evident by posting in this forum. However I believe I could stand to do that more.
Wake up 1 hour earlier every day to do some productive things first
I have already started a change in my habit which is, instead of streaming videos every night with my husband, I have decided to devote some of that time to reading/research for a painting collection Iām working towards completing. Now, I have noticed Iām reading multiple books at once and Iām accumulating more knowledge than my previous daily average.
Iāve already begun a new habit transformation of exchanging 15 minutes of watching TV sports,
for a 15 minute creation & review of Anki cards pertinent to this whole coding journey.
I should stop ordering takeaway food, and plan my weekly shopping so I always have ingredients on hand to cook cheap meals. Food is one of my biggest expenses.
Wasnāt on the list but it should have been - SLEEP. Sleep is key. The science is new so we havenāt yet accepted its importance in our culture.
Plundering your sleep opportunity time to work out is very counterproductive. Sleep quality and quantity increases your exercise tolerance and muscle development. In addition reaching your exercise tolerance increases your sleep quality and quantity. This is a positive feedback loop I will strive to leverage.
Sleep is neurological sanitation. It heals our biology from the cognitive level right the way down to the genetic (lack of sleep wears the capstones off your chromosomes so you canāt even read your own DNA properly). Insufficient sleep will also disregulate your appetite and make you less productive essentially working against all your goals for self improvement at once.
My proposed change to lower my time preference is to stop napping in the afternoon after work (instant gratification) and consolodate my sleep opportunity time into one 8 hour and 30 minute period to ensure Iām getting the full benefits of this biological nourishment. This combined with weightlifting and cardio will pay dividends for my health for years to come.

My recent change of habit is exchanging the immediate gratification of consuming spare time due to the corona crisis. Since I have a lot of spare time which I normally wouldnāt have, I tend to ease in and take a lot of time to watch series, drink coffee with friends, enjoying free airā¦ Great life quality, but it is deadly for your brain activity as I donāt nearly think as much as I used to.
Instead, I have committed to take sometime to study, especially as I am interested in learning about macro economics and bitcoin as a revolutionary concept to stop the worldās way of manipulating the common man into modern slavery.
Time will tell me if I change career into crypto or not, but I will be more educated. This is my longterm gratification!
I would have to say drinking beer. Please stay with me here! What I mean by that is at least 3-4 nights of the week I like to have a couple of beers in the evening, now on those evenings I know that 1. I will not really be able to learn anything new from that first sip (unless I am trying a new beer and I decide I like it ), and having then had a couple of night of beer in the week I know that I will have to do more exercise to keep the belly off! Also, that money would be better spent on other things.
Therefore it is an all-round self-defeating activity it takes time and energy just to have āthoseā evenings during the weekā¦
I am not an alcoholic I promise!

Propose a change you could make to one of your habits, that would reduce your time preference from high (instant gratification) to low (delayed gratification) time preference. It could relate to any aspect of your life (financial, diet, exercise, relationships or education).
- On the matter of time preference in terms of money, itās to recognise what they can forgo immediate consumption, for in return to be able to consume more later.
An Example i would say is a bad habit i have of smoking cigarettes. I smoke for instant gratification and if i stop, well in the case for time preference i would in turn be more healthier and fitter and also save extra cash i would have had.
I hope this example is used in the correct context of the Sound and Time Preference.
Hi there. This is something Iāve been thinking about for a long time. I wasnāt in a good place late in 2019 and was pretty disappointed in my present self. So from the very beginning of 2020 I promised myself to improve in 3 basic ways. One was to stop drinking alcohol another was to exerise daily and the last one was to study daily and write down a list of what I had achieved that day. Well itās already June 12 now and so far I have achieved all of those targets. I feel like a happier and healthier person but still think I have a long way to go and a lot still to learn. Anyway I feel like I have improved myself. Also I believe I saved quite a lot of money from no longer drinking.
i could exercise and eat more healthy and run for my schools track team again if i just put more work into it.
go to bed at a set time each night. And a bonus one: Cook big batches and freeze them. Take them to work to avoid paying for lunch every day.
I could stop snaking and over eating.
daily cleaning is easier than weekly cleaning.
Well Im refinancing my house right now, also I have no credit card bills or outstanding loans and I already dont spend much money. I believe Im rich because I dont have debt, but I may not be so rich in a material sort of way.
