Activity Lesson 2

By studying, working out, and being frugal for the next year or so I will be in a much better position in life than I am today and hopefully have a good job in the cryptocurrency field. After I get through the beginning section of my courses coding will be what I focus on.

I could definitely go without a splurge lunch on every payday. Delay the gratification by waiting til after the money has gone 3x with some crypto.

Instead of looking at my phone, I could start de-cluttering my space by spending 15 minutes cleaning every evening before bed. Also, wake up a little earlier and spend 10 minutes doing some yoga before work.

Instead of aimlessly scrolling through social media sometimes, I could use the time to learn (e.g. in the blockchain academy), which would be much better for my future self.

I feel in my attempts to grow as a person I consume media related to my goals which then gives me a feeling of accomplishment without taking any action towards completing my goals. I would change this by not allowing myself to consume content which is not something which is pertinent to either my process or outcome goals.

One of my best moves in that regards has been using an app called Freedom to block my time spent on social media and other websites I was binging on, against my own will really. It has freed up so much time and gotten me more focused, and strangely enough, it has had an effect on my ability to make more long-term choices. Highly recommend it to everyone here who has commented on spending less time on social media. A true game changer!

A change I could enact to reduce my time preference from instant gratification to a delayed gratification is to change my sleeping habits. I go to bed too late and get up too late. The instant gratification i feel is staying up late like a teenager and getting up whenever I feel like it, as my work schedule allows this. However, this sleeping in leads to a lack of motivation throughout the day. A simple change to a delayed gratification outlook and the discipline to rise earlier would provide the motivation I need to excel each day.

Propose a change you could make to one of your habits, that would reduce your time preference from high (instant gratification) to low (delayed gratification) time preference. It could relate to any aspect of your life (financial, diet, exercise, relationships or education).

I exercise daily, primarily weight lifting and running. In terms of strength, I’m in some of the best shape of my life, however, I don’t always follow my own diet adequately. Lately, I’ve made the mistake of eating things that I shouldn’t be. I’m currently trying to cut so I am in better shape for the beach come summertime. One thing I could do is set a goal right now to stop eating unhealthy foods and stick to my diet regimen more aggressively.

I could stop wasting money on energy drinks, and set that money aside in a savings account or in crypto.
