20 min less on social media a day and using it for meditation
I have a habit of logging in a lot of hours into video games instead of investing into myself in the form of education. This is a behavior change I should implement immediately: play a half hour less of video games every day and spend that extra half hour on Ivan on Tech Academy Courses!
I used to look at diet as instant gratification. Happy go lucky eat whatever sounds tasty. Due to health concerns, I have made drastic changes to my diet. These changes produce gratification and appreciation over time with improved health and not needing expensive medications. It takes discipline.
I’m not going to have my Shopify store “Live View” tab open when I have work to do that doesn’t require me watching the Live View of my store.
I could stop eating out and make scheduled costco shops to save money on daily trips to the grocery store and ordering in.
Instead of just wasting my money buying cryptocurrencies on the advice of youtube shillers, I might commence a blockchain course so I can pick the best projects myself after some learning. I think the Ivan on Tech Course is a good one to do.
Go to bed early to get up earlier and be more productive
I could spend less time on my phone using media apps and take more IVAN on tech courses!!
Actually I changed something. I get up 30 minutes earlier each day and use that time to learn something new or to do workouts. It’s a great habit and the result of doing something for 30 minutes but constanly over a long period of time is truly worth it. It’s of course a delayed gratification
I actually don’t spend much. So what i could really change is the amount of time I spend on social media and dedicating it to educational purposes, such as Ivan’s academy!
Something i’ve actually done this last few weeks!!!
There are many areas of my life where I could benefit from reducing my time preference from high to low and they’re mostly manifestations arising from a discomfort with the way I feel and needing to feel better now. Some examples are daily artisan coffee and pastry breakfasts. If I could delay and/or reduce those to zero or 1x per week max, that would help me financially, emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually. Beyond that, once I’ve consumed that coffee, it generally triggers an obsession to spend money frivolously, so it’s a compounded effect.
Propose a change you could make to one of your habits, that would reduce your time preference from high (instant gratification) to low (delayed gratification) time preference. It could relate to any aspect of your life (financial, diet, exercise, relationships or education).
Something that hit me last year is overeating. I had some success exercising, yet, just like the article said, I would reward myself with eating after exercise. Right now I am working on moderation. I am telling myself that what I have eaten is enough. That way I can be satisfied and take in less calories. Overeating also ties in with stress for me. I find it to be comforting. My goal is to moderate my diet and drink more water in order to lose weight and keep it off. Breathing exercises help me with stress. I will combat instant gratification and utilize time preference for my benefit.
Stop eating sooner before bed would make my sleep better and afterwards I will be more energized in the next day with better and deeper sleep. Also my time spent on social media should decrease and than I will be able to more other things and actually I will feel better in general.

Getting up earlier so in the long run I would be more productive instead of sleeping in because I can.
When having conversations I try to ask questions instead of making a statement. This delayed gratification helps others solve issues faster rather than telling them how. In most cases, they come to the same conclusion as I do.
I could read more physical text than digital text and my eyes would be thankful for that.
I could spend less time tracking my crypto portfolio and more time learning and practicing blockchain development!
I could watch less youtube videos and learn more about a blockchain development.
spending less time on social media and my phone and spending more time outside exercising

Sacrificing a little bit of the time that I spend playing video games to learn more about blockchain development would be a good one for me. Playing video games adds no value to my life it just relieves stress and gives me enjoyment whereas learning to blockchain develop will increase my income, make me feel more accomplished and overall love my life more with having a job.
