i have done many changes during the last year. I moved to a studio apartment, became vegan for 5 months already, started this Blockchain course, spending less money on expensive food, buying less clothes. now i need to exercise more, sleep earlier and stop smoking. I’m advancing step by step.
I’m going to start going to bed earlier and earlier, 15 minutes, 30, 1 hour. I notice that when I wake up earlier my days are much better and more productive, I see life with more brightness when I wake up early.
I’m going to eat nothing after 8:30 pm.
I think if I was to not eat out as much would help me save more money as well as eating healthier to improve how I feel.
I need to spend more time with my wife and kids. Since COVID I have been home more, but then I put more on my plate (ie IOT, BJJ, extra “stuff”). Need to focus on more quality time with family.
I could, instead of procrastinating for hours on end take that time to better myself and focus on my education, my body, family or whatever else could bring me long term health and wealth. Binging Youtube brings me instant gratification but the time I lose to doing something good for my long term life is not worth the meaningless short term gain of watching funny Youtube videos.
I could spend more time studying each day. More studying would mean faster completion of study goals and could move on quicker to other things.
Going to bed earlier rather than staying up on the internet, would help me as I would be refreshed, and more alert and possibly able to learn more!
Buying things on credit. Even if it is at 0%. Because it is not actually 0% if the currency you use is inflationary.
Once started, it is easy to fall into the depths of instant gratification. I know many people who struggle with this in the U.S. but they do not see it as a problem. The habit is easy to form: you feel tired one day and you decide that you don’t want to expend the effort on cooking a meal. Also, unless you enjoy cooking or are particularly adept at it, it will likely not taste as good as purchased food from a restaurant. I see often that people outsource many if not all of their meals simply because they are trapped in this habit which shortens their gratification horizon and also their accumulation of wealth.
What is money- Activity
A change a could make in my life, not easily though, is not eating a lot after workout. As the suggested reading says, this is very common, and that is why people who work out do not lose weight as expected. The post work out reward is often a succulent and juicy meal that eventually offsets the workout benefits.
This happens to me, after swimming i feel that I have earned the right to eat significnaly more than when I haven´t swum. And I am fully aware of it. I could make some extra effort to avoid this.
Getting up half an hour sooner every morning would give me the chance to get that work-out daily instead of rolling around in bed for a bit longer and missing out on work-outs at times.
Implement a regime with activities that would benefit me. Mainly replacing time in the morning that is spent on the phone with a couple of exersices.
I would propose deliberately putting aside a fixed amount of money in a vacation fund, and only taking the vacation when the amount in the fund is sufficient, as opposed to simply going on vacation when we “feel the need”.
Since starting to invest in crypto just a bit over a year ago, I’ve come to see money in a completely different way. Seeing how everything works makes me wonder how our society even functions at all. I’ve decided to keep less than $5000 in my bank account at any given time and invest in a future that makes more sense. I can see a future where everything will be different and that a difference that I want to be in.
Looking at the last year and seeing a need to improve. My goal is to grow, process and store more food than last year. this will take hard work, continued study and the discipline to follow through. Waking up earlier is part of what’s needed to succeed along with making and following the seasonal plan… Last copper spray for the winter this weekend.
I have never saved a penny in my life, always living day by day, sometime on credit card…
Five months ago, I paid off that card, cut it in half, and started to put 20% of my fortnight income in either crypto or silver. Damn!! How good it feels already to know that I have some money aside to rely on, especially since it may be worth even more in years!
Now, time to grow the income to save and invest even more!!
Effectively manage myself and time, is what I need to work on.
I could adjust post-workout meals more efficiently. Very good read, thank you!
I also should reduce screen time, especially at night, to improve the quality of sleep.
A change I could make is my habit of eating what is available whether it is balanced or not, which is a high time preference activity. A low time preference activity would be to preplan my meals with a healthy balanced diet.
