Activity Lesson 2

A time preference change I could make would be to HODL certain coins rather than prowl around with them on exchanges looking for a trade.

I proposed a change on my habits since I got an online work last year during quarantine and it’s to learn new things every single day and do less time on games and focus to what I want to be in the future and it’s to be in crypto and be stable in my 30s I still got 10 years to work on that but the short term goal is to finish school first and then land a job for now

I think with doing cardio during my workouts I expect instant gratification from sweating to mean major changes in my body due to fatburning but realize that it is the consistency that is key to see tangible results and not short burst of intense cardio workouts.

My partner and I have just moved and we have some sorting to do. Essentially it feels like a trip to a storage locker which I dread, so I usually find something else to keep me busy and put it off. Starting tomorrow I am going to schedule time and commit to sorting out our items instead of quickly finding an excuse to divert my efforts. Doing this will actually give me larger blocks of free time and space in the future as I will have knocked the tedious job of sorting through things and getting rid of what we don’t need.

Propose a change you could make to one of your habits, that would reduce your time preference from high (instant gratification) to low (delayed gratification) time preference. I recently contracted with someone to landscape my new home. To date there is no finished product, and I spent every penny x’s 3 that was budgeted for the finished product! There are no more funds to accomplish the landscaping as I had planned. I have reflected how such a failure could happen, and from that came away with a painful realization. In this case there was the barrier of a ā€œstrong personal reasonā€ for this project to be accomplished, which caused me to look the other way when the Landscaper did not follow the contract. I found myself hoping all would end well. I did not recognize and deal with the elephant in the room, which had to do with an (understandable) impatience I felt, and the reasons for my personal desire to get the project accomplished. I was too attached to the outcome instead of following prudent process. So, I am still working on forgiving myself over the financial loss and an unfulfilled goal. For me, clearly identifying potential barriers (especially the hard personal ones) are the essential parts of the process for accomplishing an identified goal. Identifying and dealing with these potential barriers will keep them from becoming a realized outcome. For me, this hard lesson can prove beneficial in the long run as I embark on the new journey with investment in cryptocurrencies.

I could remove the ā€˜Buy Now’ function from my Amazon account. This would make me question my purchases for a bit longer and probably save me a lot of money!

One habit i could change from instant gratification to delayed gratification, would be to brew my own cold brew coffee instead of purchasing it from a coffee shop. The instant gratification from the coffee shop costs more money and less time for me to receive the coffee where as brewing my own coffee at home takes more time to brew and costs less money for me to make.

Isn“t Investing (not gambling) the perfect combination of the two? It delivers instant gratification while doing something good for me in the future. If yes, i should do more of that.

I am already making that change… My job is barista and i haven’t been working since November. The cafeterias are closed because of the pandemic. I was wasting my time in front of my pc until the moment i decided to enroll on Ivan’s Academy and invest in my future. Now I’m investing my free time to educate my self on something really interesting, which hopefully it will give me the chance to increase my income in the future.
