I could trade 30 mins of Netflix time to lift some weight to get fit.
Getting up earlyer in the morning will grant me more time educating myself and splitt time with music/gaming.
reduce time next to tv(or other entertaiments) and spend couple more minutes on study
Propose a change you could make to one of your habits, that would reduce your time preference from high (instant gratification) to low (delayed gratification) time preference. It could relate to any aspect of your life (financial, diet, exercise, relationships or education).
Exercise. I could spend 20 minutes on the eliptical at bedtime, before going to bed rather than going straight to bed.
Push myself to stop spending my earnings so quickly. Help myself realize that what I want so bad in the current moment will not benefit me in the near future.
I could make a daily routine of doing an exercise bike at least 30 min per day. It would be a good investment into my body and health for the present and the future. Easy to say, not easy to do it permanently
Spend an extra 30 minutes per day on growing knowledge via the Ivan on Tech Community and other related forums; This will come at the expense of 30 minutes of leisure time each day (ie high time preference activities) but enable the future versions of myself to benefit earlier
I would say I should make a habbit out of reading for like an min an hour a day , in stead of watching tv , eduction , investing in myself more often than spending time on other people while neglecting myself . It wonāt do much in the short term but in the long term I am convinced it would benefit my private life , my relationships and my professional career.
I will apply the mini habits strategy across all my activities in order to keep going and never stop. Reducing the time spent in every activity that would seem such as easy goal that would pay off better in the long run.
Instead of going to the gym three days a week for one and a half hours, I could go for a thirty minute walk every day get more exercise by using less time in my days. I would also get to connect to my surroundings while doing so.
I have had a habit of smoking little cigars, $2 or $3 dollars worth a day, to exercise a decade-old habit. If I simply deny the urge of this instant gratification of habit. Opting to instead pocket my daily trinkets cruising at a more low time preference altitude. It would vastly import various parts of my life. Financially and Biologically.
One big problem with instant gratification for me is phone usage. Iāll browse youtube or get stuck in txt conversations or calls almost by default whenever there is no direct task at hand, or if there is one that Iām subconsciously avoiding. If I could replace even just 30mins of phone time per day with reading or actively dealing with something Iāve been putting off (bureaucracy tasks for example) that would be a huge success in my eyes.
One major change I could make is cutting out coffee. Iām a coffee enthusiast and only buy high quality and organic. It cost about 20 a bag and I go through 3 per month. Not to mention buy out at least 2 times per week. This easily adds up to 80 per month. About 1k per year. If I were to switch to hot water and lemon and invest that money in BTC that 1k could be worth 10k easily in 10 years.

A: Since starting the Academy at Thanksgving, I decided to set an alarm and be up by 6:00 AM and at my computer by 6:30 AM M-F. I decided to forgo the ābeauty sleepā in favor of education. This gives me 2 hours before my family is active so that I can complete online study. It gives me a base so that I can accomplish something significant and then if my family needs me more during the day, I donāt get frustrated by the interruptions. I consider whatever I accomplish after 8:30 AM as a bonus. I also have been able to schedule a walk in the early afternoon daily to clear my head so that I am ready to do more online.
I sacrificed the instant gratification of sleep that I didnāt really need for the delayed gratification of increased earnings potential as a blockchain developer.
I would include the habit of meditation twice a day (at least 30 mins each session). While this would vastly reduce my instant gratification (who the heck wants to sit still and not think for 30 mins?), it would create a delayed gratification in terms of my ability to concentrate more efficiently and would vastly reduce any form of stress generation perpetuated by uncomfortable scenarios.
I definetly need to start going to bed a couple hours earlier. My high time preference in the matter wants the gratification of staying up and doing things, but i know that i would be able to get more done and feel better if i went to bed earlier.
The video on mini goals makes a lot of sense. I am going to commit to study this course at least 15 minutes on the days I am working , instead of thinking I have to study for an hour. Several times I have thought āan hourā , then not done anything at all.
Make My Own Lunch
I eat at my favorite restaurant Chic-Fil-A almost everyday for about 10 USD a pop. The proposed change would be to shop at the grocery store once a week and pick up bread and lunch meat and make sandwiches for the week.I feel I could make better use of my time through out the day instead of going about my day of what I feel like doing. Instead I should program a strict schedule on my time off where my I can be more productive with business ideas and other things.
Hi folks as a 58 year old man my biggest habit I have to change is procrastination. Learning here is something Iām becoming more and more wanting to learn and still sometimes i have to discipline my time and its good so far. thatās the reward.
