I need to start studying and self improving more than using precious time on video games and social media
- A change I can make to break up my investments into smaller weekly deposits that compound instead of 1 large deposit.
put myself to work daily for a short period of time on things i dont like doing, like that i dont end up with a pile which then seems overwhelming and makes me procrastinate even more.
Going to the coffee shop and buying expensive coffee by the cup or going to the store and buying the same coffee which is now cheap after I make it myself.
Propose a change you could make to one of your habits, that would reduce your time preference from high (instant gratification) to low (delayed gratification) time preference. It could relate to any aspect of your life (financial, diet, exercise, relationships or education).
I could put my CC and Debit cards in a vault that that opens at a specific time each day forcing me to make financial decisions slower and think about my purchases fully before purchasing. If the impulse or the need is still present the next day when it opens, at that time I can then use the card to make the purchase.
dramatically reduce purchase of alchohol
I could definitelly watch less Youtube videos about crypto and study more here.
i could go to bed earlier so i could get up earlier.
Talk to friends and family more often in smaller amounts instead of not talking at all for a while and eventually having one big long catch up.
I do not watch TV nor movies for about 1 year now (only on a flight maybe).
This helped a lot, but I think if I would not spend apx. 1 hour / day on YouTube watching other peopleās lives and would rather spend that time studying I could get to my goals even quicker without day-dreamingā¦
Regular learning of foreign languages instead of watching endless content on youtubeā¦
I should do exercice regularly and eat better. Laziness and being a crazy amount of hours home in lockdown, working in front of the coumputer all day is taking a toll on my health, and makes me feel guilty.
I could drink less and use the money to buy cryptos while they are still cheap.
I often promise myself to read more but end up with my phone doing nothing and just wasting time. I must put my phone on airplane mode or just turn it off.
I should gather with my friends less often, not every weekend but just twice a month, so I would reduce my expenses, better health and could save more.
I think taking all the courses offered at Ivan on tech and graduating would be an example of a shift from instant gratification to delayed gratification. This strategy should be applied as quickly as possible. Therefore I sacrifice time today to make money later post graduation and thus achieve delayed gratification.

Invest in post graduate education and delay full time employment in order to increase marketability and potential salary
Rather than buying coffee/drink/snack when Iām out, I should wait until I get home and have the coffee/drink/snack in my cupboard. This would reduce my time preference from high (where I want to be instantly gratified) to low - the benefit of this would be healthier choices and save me money.
Currently, my daily routine involves about 4 - 6 hours beginning in the morning watching YouTube videos of crypto news and research and portfolio management, then about only 3 - 4 hours of education (such as Ivan on Tech) and production of projects (art and programming) in the evening. Iād like to shift to delaying or limiting crypto research and management time toward increasing attention on education and production.
One change that I could definitely put into practice would be to spend less time on entertainment (watching movies and tv shows, playing video games) and spending more time improving myself through education and the like.
