Activity Lesson 2

Watching Netflix, Facebook, Instagram, I am already lowering the time that I spend on them. But when you learn/work you need also rewards. don’t try to become a robot. I am e P.T. and can tell you from experience no restrictive diet works. You need the good and the bad combined. So be sure to work/learn/take care of your health and enjoy life so you can go for the long run, it is not a sprint!

Deciding to set aside time every day to study this course and education myself about blockchain lowers my time preference. I’m trading off having more free time and gratification in the short term, for having useful and interesting knowledge that I can leverage for a new career in the long term.

Several change could be made in my case. I could delay the gratification of eating fast food and cook instead (financial and dietary benefits). Doing more exercise and staying healthy for the benefit of my future self’s medical bills. In terms of relationships, I could align myself with more modestly living people rather than affluent. For education, what I’m currently doing (this course) is an attempt at providing opportunities for my future self rather than just making do with the knowledge I have to hand.

I will refrain from buying clothes on sale, that are too small in the hopes I will loose that additional 5-10 lbs. I now convert sale prices into “polka dots” and ask myself if I really need it. General answer, no… I need the dots.

Although somewhat personal, two highly destructive habits that need my attention relate to the consumption of alcohol and tobacco, The financial rescoources these habits consume are alarming, and growing in time uncer current tax regimes.
The desire to drink a few beers after a ong day of work or study presents itself often as a reward. The view of this as a reward would diminish greatly if the view of the constructive nature of the spent funds in contrast with the decay involved n consumption. My changing views on money have begun to play a large role in spending decisions that used to be automatic and unquestioned, however my newer understanding of money as a tool and a security against future uncertainty are changing the way i view spending and saving.
Eliminating these two habits would not only save a great deal of investing capital for the future, but also free up a large chunk of time in my daily schedule. This could lead to further productivity, and potentially higher economic output on my behalf.
As evidence of my shift in behaviors, I have begun to invest and save at a rate far higher than previously attained.
Funneling the unspent funds (by eliminated the stated vices) into a separate investing account would be a much greater reward than the fleeting instant gratification reward of consuming the toxins.

Well seems like social spending has plummeted these last months :joy:

I usually save a lot in expenses such as clothes, dinner or starbucks, as I try not to waste my money on those things. Right now I’m wearing a 5 year old t shirt, 10 year old swetter and 10 euro pants. I just expend money on clothes for working and ocassionally some social events.

I will give a few examples that I am trying to slowly incorporate in my life:

  • as one of the people on forum already said - going to sleep earlier, and thus waking up earlier, can help to get into a routine and start your day with something useful, like learning on IOT academy. Which in the long run will hopefully turn out as a delayed gratification of finding your place in the industry you love the most - blockchain. Also, delaying to watch a favorite youtube video (ChicoCrypto) which is uploaded late if you are living in Europe, you get the delayed gratification by watching it the next day.
  • meditation: as you meditate regularly, with time, your focus gets better, you get more “centered” and in-the-moment. It helps with patience and not letting your thoughts control what you do, but vice-versa. Thus, you are able to more clearly weight out what is something you actually need to do, eat, or buy and put aside anything that is not of crucial importance. Helps with saving and investing decisions as well.

I should go earlier to bed to have a better level of energy at the next day and most likely finish my task better or in a more effective way.

I could wake up 1 hour earlier. This would give me more time to organize my day and collect my thoughts in order to be more productive and perform more efficiently during the day without overloading with the loss of that 1 hour.

Very good advice , being consistent is the key.

Wake up earlier so reducing my of my sleep (instant gratification) to do some yoga so I could be more productive as I will feel satisfied and happier during the day (delayed gratification).

I should learn to cook healthier meals. Instead of being lazy and eating out (instant gratification), by learning and making effort to cook, my future me would benefit from a healthier diet and a larger wallet.

Eating less sugar so that I have more energy throughout the day. Would increase sugar sensitivity and on occasion when I eat a desert it would taste better.

Give up sweets and junkfood for better heath and energy and enjoy them occasionally.
