Exchanging the time I spend staying up till 1-3 am binging News and Youtube for sleep so I can get at least 8 hours per day than to wake up tired and not having a very productive day.
Eating out less frequently would help.
Propose a change you could make to one of your habits, that would reduce your time preference from high (instant gratification) to low (delayed gratification) time preference. It could relate to any aspect of your life (financial, diet, exercise, relationships or education).
Iāve trying to educate myself about current job activities (Iām a mechanical engineer). Iām trying to balance up the expected level of results so that instead of getting things perfectly done, I can get them at least correctly done, without spending my time more than necessary. The objective is to find some more time to spend with my kids and also to study a little bit more, like right now .
- Minimizing my social media habit, n replacin it w/studyin my courses here more consistently
- Minimizing my social media habit, n replacin it w/art n music work
- Minimizing my video game habit, n replacing it w/building n refining repeatable biz processes
I usually spend 2 to 3 hours a day watching series or tv programs. I could (will) cut that time to invest it in the academy and better myself.
- I would have to say spend less time on the internet which generates a high reward trigger in my mind. Thus, delaying instant gratification and as a consequence creating a new habit.
Getting up earlier is a target of mine and doing 10,000 steps each day. I also like to drink a fruit smoothie and have Epsom salt baths regularly. Cutting down on my alcohol consumption and losing some weight too. Currently the UK is in lockdown though due to COVID-19 so itās not possible to go to the gym or venture outside without a face mask. Hopefully, when things return to normal I may even become a full time block developer as Iām using this time in order to learn more about it.
Reducing the time on my phone and increasing the time I spend investing in learning a new skill
Iām spending at least 5Ā£ each day for coffee. Thatās 150Ā£ a month, 1800Ā£ a year. I can use those money to buy bitcoin or gold.
Eating less food especially food that is not healthy.
walk to work instead of driving!
- Not purchase a new car when the car you have works perfectly fine.
- Contribute more of your earnings towards assets that grow your wealth.
- Make financial decisions that are prudent to give you more time and freedom.
A change I could make would be video games. Though they are a nice way to relax after a hard day of work, I do not think playing video games are a good means of production. Instead of getting instant gratification with playing video games, I could go for a run, read a book, or take an educational course online. This would delay my gratification, but I know the ending result would be far better than finishing 1 video game.
But⦠not healthy food is good for the soul!
LOL Love it
Sometimes I choose to play video games rather than work on my D&D campaigns. More time to revise and rehearse the material leads to smoother games that are more fun for myself and the players. I feel like they can usually tell when I have been prioritizing other things, but they never really complain.
I just finished a pizza after doing NOTHING early today at the gym. This kinda feels personal now, well, I shouldnāt have had that pizza, that is my answer.
I could really limit my gaming time, go to bed earlier, & wake up earlier to get in some more workout time or study time. Lol, itās a bit difficult though because all my friends are still in my home state and I moved so itās hard to pass up an invite to a match.
I have two kids and at the end of the day find myself feeling like I always need more rest. By the time they get to bed I am often too tired to do the things I want and need to do for myself but end up staying up late anyway, therefore shorting myself on rest even more. Instead, I could go to sleep earlier, and wake up before my kids, solving the issue of feeling tired and being able to do the things I want for myself as well.
