There was another post that I can totally relate to because I’m falling into a similar situation as them. That situation is finding that energy I had before the pandemic to exercise regularly again and actually go to bed at a decent hour to get plenty of sleep so I’m not wanting to sleep in an extra 10 minutes or more. Before, I would head to the gym at least 4 or 5 times a week with my workouts being somewhere between 45 to 60 minutes. Maybe it’s because of the lack of movement of commuting to work and not being out and about much, but I am aware of this change in me and I have already gave myself this proposition to actively get my mind back on this track I was before the pandemic hit. Another proposed change that has been moving since the pandemic hit is I made a choice in gaining more knowledge, particularly in money and finance. I was probably motivated by seeing the development of the huge wealth transfer happening in front of me that led me to learn more about what money is and how to invest in asset classes and trying to learn the differences between them all. This sent me down a rabbit hole where it led me to discover Mike Maloney’s documentary “Hidden Secrets of Money” and introduce me to bitcoin and the rest of the cryptocurrency market. From that seed being planted in my mind, I started to gain a thirst of more knowledge about this industry and that led me to find and enroll into this academy. So, this second proposal to myself is currently in progress.
I have set a goal to spend most of my personal income(pocket money) to educate myself on buying books and most importantly, to know all I need to know about this new technology Blockchain , and to be among the 1% people with such knowledge. I am on it now.
I could eat less sugar and drink less alcohol. This would induce a lot of health benefits, starting with a much more balanced metabolism in the long run.
Getting up earlier every morning might be a good solution to be more productive with my learning at the academy. After work is sometimes hard to concentrate and learn new stuff.
Instead of sleeping at 11 pm every night and not be able to think clearly and execute tasks properly the next day. Ive decided to sleep every night at 9pm and the results were good. I can do more tasks than sleeping till 9am and the morning. My head is clearer and my decisions have been wiser.
Same as you
My brain is much sharper in the morning compared to the afternoons and nights.
i could eat a small portion of healthy food after two hours of bike ride, instead of eating fast food even though it is more satisfying. It would be a great change for my healthy life.
I very rarely get instant gratification as I am always working for the delayed gratification it means i have something to look forward too. however if to use an example I could have bought a cabin but I am building one instead, buying one would have meant it would have been useable sooner but the delayed gratification is that I am building it myself.
Propose a change you could make to one of your habits, that would reduce your time preference from high (instant gratification) to low (delayed gratification) time preference. It could relate to any aspect of your life (financial, diet, exercise, relationships or education) Control FOMO and reduce fractional purchasing when major price change happens and you’re not part of it, when I should research and plan out.
I can only think of historic example realted to the topic. I did bar work at a festival and due to someone fraudulently reselling bar tokens all of us (a bus load of students) were offered half our wages or we could wait and dispute the issue. I did not need the money urgently so waited and got paid the full wages 12 months later after an industrial tribunal. Others needed the money urgently so we forced to take the 50% option.
I could execise will studying. This would maximise my time making me more effecient.
Stop spending money on things I don’t really need and continue to focus on things and investments that add value to my life and the family and friends in my direct circle of influence.
Education is a store of value…continue my life journey in educating and enlightening myself and others.
I need to stop playing video games and getting up earlier, instead of that start learning more about cryptocurrency and blockchain. For example, 2h playing videogames and 2h more sleep per day that is 4 hours and at that time you can learn a lot of new information and improve my English. Currently, I’m a student and before I finish college and get a job, my goal is to learn much more about blockchain and start a career in this was. Cuz of that I’m so glad that I’m here at this academy which gives me a lot of information and incentives.
I could start by reading at least a new book every 2 weeks to help build my personal education and development.
A change I make is to reduce my habit of watching anime (instant satisfaction) and increase my time working in blockchain (long term satisfaction) to shift my time preference.
I could take 50% of my entertainment budget and invest it each week
This is a proposal about my attitude toward teaching others. I love to provide more information than is necessary to new learners. This often leads them to remembering very little of what I teach them.
Now, I will try to teach people bit by bit and not overwhelming them with more information at the beginning. I am sure this will increase the amount of information they will retain.
I’ve gotten in the habit of having Uber Eats Fridays. It’s sort of a treat for the end of the week. This could be skipped and that would be $20 saved each week, that’s about $1000 in a year.
I honestly did this proposal right before I joined the academy.
As I work on flexible hours and tended to start work early in the morning just to end work early in the afternoon and play games or watch YouTube videos, instead I get up, drink a coffee and do a ~60 mins workout. Then I get on to studying blockchain for an hour on the academy.
So my work day ends later (roughly at 7pm) but I really achieved something that will give great benefits in a year or so. It is harder than I thought, to be honest. But I’m 100% sure that it will pay off.
i want to change my habbits so that i focus more on my kids and education to provide a better life for my family
