Activity Lesson 2

Propose a change you could make to one of your habits, that would reduce your time preference from high (instant gratification) to low (delayed gratification) time preference. It could relate to any aspect of your life (financial, diet, exercise, relationships or education).

I could dollar cost average a little more per month into Bitcoin instead of spending it on things I don’t really need. That way I give up a little now for what is hopefully a bigger reward later.

Spending more time doing low intensity exercises, such as cycling, will most definitely be hard to pull off for my present self. It means that I will have less time to just hang around. But it will mean that after some time has gone by, this investment of effort and time will give a return on investment that is more than worth it:
I should be more focused, mentally and physically fitter, thus, giving me the opportunity to be productive in the remaining time. My hope is that this will give me the “illusion” of having more time each and every day. Considering that time and health are our scarcest assets, writing this short text has given me a lot of motivation.

Thanks Anil

Having read this forum thread all the way through, I noticed a number of proposals which were repeated frequently. If people actually do what they intend to, the restaurants and fast-food chains are doomed.

Personally, my most needed changes are to get out of bed earlier and to spend less time on YouTube. Why is getting up early so difficult?

I could reduce the amount of sugary foods I eat, which is mostly done for emotional reasons. I could practice delayed gratification by eating healthier, naturally sweet foods instead. My body would have to adjust from the instant gratification that comes from a sugar high, but it would be much better for my total well being in the long run

  1. After studying something , I always need to reward myself with some entertainment (such as watching movie or some game), instead of that I could read some interesting novel or fantasy which will make me more creative person.

I should stop eating ready meals, and start cooking fresh food to have a good nutrition and feel better.

Coffee is something that gives me instant gratification, drinking less would give me more energy later on in the day.

i find i watch too many youtube shows usually regarding the shape of the world looking for endless answers to endless problems this steals my time and my mood and repeats patterns that never end where this time would be better spent with my kids which would be strengthening my mood and enliven my time and life

Instead of buying desserts all the time, I could buy them once a week. This would help solve the post work out binge issue mentioned in the article, Wealth Is What You Don’t Spend, as well!

Replace youtube with iavanontech or other future potential enablers for higher (passive) income

I’m thinking of starting to grow my own food. Sure it takes a bit of effort at first, but in the long term I’ll learn a lot and possibly have a certain % of my food from my own garden which saves money and is certainly more healthy in the long term.

I am an Instant gratification junkie and this rolls over into my trading. I suffer from FOMO really badly and usually can’t wait to buy coins that I really like. Mostly of the time I end up buying at the top. A very costly habit that i so badly want to break. I am hoping that what I learn here at this academy will help gain the discipline that I need to succeed.

I could purchase more food in bulk and cook larger meals at a time. The instant gratification would be finding a quick solution to not having food and cooking simple meals. A long term approach would be healthier and more cost effective

I’m going to set up an amount of hours a week I spend cleaning/helping clean/organize etc. And once I reach that time every week or day, I can spend my time to Ivanontech or reading without feeling guilty. I’m also going to refuse watching those types of ads that want you to see the incredible changes in actors, losing weight, what happened to this one or that one and spend that time learning about investing and invanontech.

I can choose to spend my free time on evenings on weekends studying cryptocurrencies rather than aimlessly binge watching random tv shows and movies. The knowledge acquired by studying can later help me take action that would benefit me financially.

I could replace the amount of snacks I have to better practice a delayed gratification. Also spending less time ruminating on things i need to do and making a to-do list

My propose change of habit would be to ensure that I log in everyday and ensure that I give at least an hour a day towards building my knowledge in the blockchain and crypto space using the course material at hand, This will allow me to learn more and have less time to go out and spend money on random stuff and start having an understand of where best to be placing my hard earned money for future consumption.

I used to practise intermittent fasting, whereby I would avoid eating til around 11am and stop eating by 7pm, ensuring I would have 16 hours of no food everyday and consume my daily calories within an 8 hour window. My future self would like me to have this self control again so that I am fitter and healthier, but the current me has fallen back to bad habits of eating as late as 9pm - work and young children make it easy to make excuses as to why I can’t manage getting back to an 8 hour eating window…this is definitely a change I could make. I could start eating after lunch to offset the late evening eating habit. Or just be firm about the food cutoff time and go to bed hungry if I miss it.
