Activity Lesson 2

Propose a change you could make to one of your habits, that would reduce your time preference from high (instant gratification) to low (delayed gratification) time preference. It could relate to any aspect of your life (financial, diet, exercise, relationships or education).

I committed to taking the Ivan on Tech bootcamp which requires a significantly more amount of time for daily tasks and learning, plus the upfront cost of the bootcamp, in expectation that the knowledge and skill set learned from the coursework will eventually pay for itself many times over.

No more caffiene …fast foods and energy drinks

I prefer going to the gym after work because it helps me relax. But the to be completely honest the real lazy selfish reason is I like to sleep in the extra 1.5 hours that I would have to use to get ready, go to gym, shower up for work. In reality I workout very unreliably after work because I work in a chaotic field where I may not get to leave on time. I only make it to the gym 2-3 days per week. When I have committed to :weight_lifting_man: at 6am I make it to the gym 5 days a week. I like sleeping in way too much.

The hardest part in acquiring a new habit or starting a new daily routine is getting started. So wake up in a new day with a new attitude and get started. I’m a Christian and I know that it’s hard to stay motivated to pray and to read your bible everyday but as you find results in answered prayers and peace that surrounds you even in a stormy day at work, you begin to be motivated and get that momentum going. Same as with the physical exercise. Make a decision to start even with just few push ups and make sure that you add one more push up everyday. Once you see some results physically it will motivate you to keep on going. Get started.

My goal would be to get up earlier and learn more things Everyday. Preserve through a few months and the results will show.

I could definitely keep myself busy around the house with a more constructive mindset to accomplish more which would allow me to eat less from being board. This would save me on food and snacks. Buying less cups of coffee and making it myself sure might save on monthly expenses. I need to commit to making a special amount of time set aside for these courses regardless of how different my days become. I do put my spare change into crypto and other investments for retirement that are never touched so yay!

I’m a foodie, my wife and I love to eat-out or take-out. We love to cook but often find ourselves pressed for time with the two young children and the instant gratification of ordering out is ideal. If I could create a meal plan and stick to it, it would save us money that I could put towards savings.

I can start prioritizing working out before I work on any of my hobbies.

Definitely the “value” of sleeping. Going to bed earlier so you can get a half hour/a hour more of sleep instead of using that time doing nothing in the couch watching netflix etc. That time could be used to so much more productive things such as doing this kind of online education or getting fresh air on a golf course. Getting the extra hour of sleep can definitely increase the energy and productivity the next day.

I will be more frugal for the coming 1 year. DCA monthly after getting my salary. Ride the price of BTC to the next all time high.

I could replace random YouTube binges with Ivan On Tech Academy lesson binges = focus my energy on fast-tracking my blockchain/crypto/financial learning and knowledge and achieve my long term goals
