Activity Lesson 2

I have made the change recently investing in the Academy, knowing that long term I will benefit from my investment in Education. It has taken me 40 yrs to realise this.

The very reason Iā€™m here enjoying this Academy and answering this question. I have delayed time devoted to other activities, diverted funds from nonessential items, and sacrificed a lot of my ā€œsitting around doing nothingā€ in hopes of boosting my skills and ensuring a future me is able to benefit from the knowledge and sacrifices of today.

In the great plague of 2020 its a bit too easy to get stuck in the house and watch too much Netflix. A good movie brings some pleasure now but does nothing to improve my future. Instead of watching movies I schedule an hour each evening to work on IOT Academy. The work I do now, at the expence of watching movies, will make the future Speedster better off.

I could start packing my lunch instead of eating fast food everyday. The benefits would be both health-related and financial. I started doing this last year and saved about $150/month but I one day, just stopped. Lately Iā€™ve seen my income grow substantially, but due to my increased spending on food, software, electronics, and home repairs, Iā€™ve actually seen my bank account balance shrink to a level that is worrying. The stress of thinking I need to bring in more money and work more overtime causes me to rationalize spending more on certain things, because Iā€™ve ā€œbeen working like crazy, I deserve thisā€ā€¦ And the cycle continues. I work more overtime, bring in a little more pay, but spend it more quickly on things that I donā€™t need.

The YT channel of Tech Lead is something you might enjoy. One of his videos I loved was when he said whatever you do each night at 8pm is a strong indicator of your future. If it is working on something you are passionate about, you will be successful. But if itā€™s just watching TV you will not see much progress with your goals. Iā€™m bad at paraphrasing, but it was very motivating for me.

One good example, I think itā€™s changing my eating habits. Instead of consuming YouTube content and ordering food in my pauses maybe I could cook some healthy food and take a real pause from being in front of the screen. This way I would be healthier, more relaxed and more focused in my process of getting old healthier.

One change I could make is spending 30minutes or an hour (a bit harder to do :stuck_out_tongue:) less from playing games and put that extra time into learning / studying and improving elsewhere in order to speed up and solidify my foundations for the blockchain developer journey.

Spend less time on social media like Facebook and instead spend more time on your education.

I used the lock downs in the U.S. to help me with getting over a couple of habits and invest more into my future. I stopped eating (fast food) and going out and have been putting that extra money towards my crypto investments. As an added benefit I have started cooking more at home and have found more productive things to do with my time around the house.

Before the beer virus hit, this would have been the perfect question for me. I was
spending money traveling, going out, competing in sports, and not really saving or investing.
When the beer virus hit, i started learning alot more about crypto, investing in certain coins,
and joined this academy. The academy is an investment in itself. I feel like i have made an important
change for my future already.

Focus on closing down my devices and winding down my brain an hour earlier so I can get back to my morning ā€œflow hackerā€ ritual so that my brain is even more focused and prepared to take on the day. Results are extensive and present themselves throughout my life and keep providing valuable health benefits over the long term.

I could replace instant gratification from eating junk food, to spend more time preparing nutritious meals, while saving money and healing myself

Simply spending less time watching videos on the Internet and instead taking the time to learn something, meet people, work etc. Which I feel like Iā€™ve been doing very well now, but 2-3 years ago the balance was way off.

I am currently struggling with making the time to prepare proper meals. While I eat healthy foods, I often find myself hungry without a plan which leads to a plate full of snacks rather than a wonderfully prepared meal. If I had a plan, I could buy the proper ingredients, prepare them in advance, and cook the meal. This would lead to a more balanced diet and a better eating experience which could have unforeseen benefits to my wellbeing. The slow cooker shall become my friend once again!

One small change can have a knock-on effect:

If I did a big shop at the supermarket I would save money and eat better for longer at a lower cost, I wouldnā€™t have to make the same trip as often. I would ration the treats and snacks which would help practice patience and also stop my insulin levels from spiking so often (instant gratification), I would likely be healthier as a result, exercise would be easier and more enjoyable and I would probably sleep better and have higher concentration levels.

Itā€™s a pleasant notion!

Including some kind of physical exercise routine in my day would be ideal. Or trying to go to bed earlier to wake up earlier and not hit the snooze button 17 296 times on a morningā€¦ (I like my bedā€¦ and sleepā€¦ a lot! :joy:)

Waste less time doing unnecessary shit.

I could improve a variety of areas of life daily toward a better whole whether it be crypto investing, contribution, exercise, healthy cooking and eating, and living well with less ā€œstuffā€.
Well laid plans are notorious for changing. So I find focusing oneā€™s full attention on something, helps me to accomplish it well. Itā€™s common to be doing one thing while thinking of something else, yet giving that task, person, or situation your full attention in that moment, totally changes the quality and impact.
Thanks for the assignment reminder.

If i stop overthinking and complete the task that i started, then it can make me productive in longer run and avoid my time wastage.

I would remove ā€œstaring into the phone screen right after wakeupā€ habit. It would make me more concentrated on on my routine and as a collateral more concentrated day.
