Introduce yourself

It’s great getting to know people in this “watercooler” forum! A much better feeling than in the more public spaces of Twitter, YouTube and Facebook.

I think a lot of math and computing interested people also have a musical side.

You bet, although it is still in its infancy and currently running in ‘stealth mode’ . However as things develop I do plan to share plenty more through various medias.

What I can say now is that it will be a mobile application built on top of the Steem blockchain. It will have its own token economics driven through various forms of user participation based around contribute and curate tasks.

Steem has nailed it with the ‘Proof of Brain’ model and super efficient architecture. We can start building lightning fast dapps currently with their APIs (and likely where I’ll start) but my plan is to design and build the system with the intent to launch a Steem SMT (Smart Media Token).

Basically SMTs open up the Steem blockchain to be a much more fully fledged decentralized application platform. This has many benefits but chiefly it allows for greater customizability of the blockchain backed logic, the token interaction within the dapp, and also financing for development. Check it out if you haven’t heard about it yet: https://smt.steem.io/smt-whitepaper.pdf

The ‘KNAWLEDGE’ we learn in this programming course will be very much relevant for Steem’s JavaScript based interface as well. In addition to that I have an idea of leveraging EOS for another component of the dapp (v2).

I am in the process of writing up the ‘mission statement’ component of my project’s white paper now, and also talking to a couple colleagues who may be interested in pursuing the idea! We will see where the story goes next.

I looked at Python ten or so years ago, and thought “that’s amazing!” And then did nothing whatsoever more about it. I have installed it in the past few months and have at least used it as a nice, text calculator, kind of like what I have done this week with a beginners’ Haskell tutorial, before starting this Blockchain Programming Course today.

Hi. I am Ashish. I am new to programming language. I am taking this smart contract course because I would like to learn more about blockchain and its technical aspects though it will be hard for me due to lack of prior programming experiences. We will chat a lot in forum guys… sharing is caring…

I hope all coders in the IOC are fit people too! It would be a shame to work for the International Olympic Committee and not be a model of an Olympian!

That’s an amazing anti-corruption idea! I tweeted the Colombian President with a challenge to fight corruption, but I haven’t seen any answer, unsurprisingly. My wife is Colombian and we were frustrated with the blatant corruption in the local council where we are finally building a house!

Hello,
My name is Jeff. I am taking this course with a friend who is also taking it. I am an IT professional in the VOIP recording and Analytics world. I have most experience in the bottom 4 layers of the OSI model, though I work heavily in SQL, and scripting, such as Powershell. I have some javascript experience as well, but it is not something I use day to day. I got into blockchain after being introduced to it by my roommate who works in the space. Through him I have met many talented people and it has become a huge part of my life, and consumes my interests.

I am also planning to get a working group going with my friend who is taking this course, and hope to refer others to it as well so that we can have regular meetups and help each other out in person.

Hey! I’m spending quite a lot time on cryptocurrency because I think it’s very interesting to be part of the future of decentralization and I really enjoy it. As I think I already got a good understanding of blockchain and the markets I decided to want to participate on another level and enrolled on this course. I’m starting from scratch, but I’m usually fast with catching up. I’d also really like to connect to like minded people here.
Check me on Steemit and follow if you like, I will post my experiences there and you can read a bit more about me, and maybe you like my other content too.
