Hi there, my name is Omar and I’m a software engineer from Canada.
Wanted to write up an ethereum contract and wanted to learn by more than just looking at the solidity docs. Have known of Ivan but haven’t followed his show too closely. I did gather that he was in software, and was interested in checking out his courses in the space, specifically the new Ethereum 201 course.
I have blitzed through a lot of the content, so hopefully I will be posting my answers to the various questions and assignments in the coming days, and asking for occasional help around Ethereum development as I had a couple of things I potentially wanted to build. I actually quit my software job a couple of months ago, so this has been a refreshing way to use my skills in a way I’m more passionate about.
I found out about Bitcoin via Andreas on Joe Rogan’s Podcast, though I was already a believer in Bitcoin long before: I watched this documentary Zeitgeist, which had its flaws, but it taught me about fractional reserve banking and the flaws of fiat currency essentially. When I heard about Bitcoin years later, I instantly loved it for its decentralized and censorship resistant properties. It was at ~$300 at the time but a couple of factors kept me from onboarding at the time. I have been following the space a bit more closely, and decided to finally jump in.
While I am a fan of Bitcoin, I’m more excited about DeFi possibilities on Ethereum, or a no fee environment of EOS as a developer. Experimenting with governance is also an interest of mine.
