Ethereum Introduction - Discussion

I’m not really understanding what Gas is, can someone simplify it for me?

In very simple terms… Gas is a small fraction of ether that is used to pay the fees for a transaction or for executing a smart contract (the amount depends on the complexity of the code and the number of instructions that will be executed).

Thanks for your reply. Regarding ETH programming courses… Is it worth taking the [OLD] version as some kind of complement or that one has become obsolete?

Same here. I believe the first is just a link to the forum discussion and class starts at the next video.

Hi there, Just starting the course and really looking forward to what I gain as I have wanted to understand the distinctions between Bitcoin and Ethereum more thoroughly. Nice to meet you all!

Gas is the fee paid when using the ETH network, on metamask you can choose different speeds and if you need faster speeds for a transaction to complete you pay a little more.

Yeah, has a complement just to have more in deep on Solidity, it would be good to take the OLD course.

Hi,
I just finish Blockchain and Bitcoin 101 and Bitcoin Standard. Amazing courses. I am now heading for Ethereum 101. Looking forward. I am on a roll here. I need all the help I can from the forum and I will definitely give my help when needed.

Hi, I must say the article you mentioned is a very resourceful. Even for a novice like me, I managed to get the gist of it. I will recommend for people in the Ethereum course to have a look. This can be a good reference point, Thanks a lot.

Cant believe I’m starting this course. I’m super pumped guys ^~^
I will be asking questions like always. I’m thinking in starting quite soon a simple YouTube channel to upload a video for each part of the course in order to articulate the ideas I learn here and share my humble interpretation with others.

Gas is like a balancer to ETH instead pay for functions of a smart contract with ETH which becomes very high fees. “Gas is a fee for any transactions on the Ethereum network, and measuring unit of computational effort that is required for particular operations” Mariia Rousey-Aug.21,2020 changelly blog)

How are you all intrepid pupils?!? I am extremely excited to be starting my third course in the academy. Ethereum blew my mind since the moment it was explained to me. I come from insurance and can see how it will radically transform my industry. I want to be a part of it! Anyone else in insurance?

Hi folks, Im enjoying this course ( night school ) for me. Just wondering who was the first person to create ethereum and how soon after bitcoin was started did eth enter the market?

I am excited to learn about Ethereum! I have my PhD in I/O psychology but as only an adjunct professor I make very little requiring me to do gig work such as food delivery to supplement my income. I am looking forward to the average blockchain developer salary of $200K a year or more!
