Hi everyone! My first day in the academy. Still exploring
Wassup Ethereum 101 class!
Iāve been skipping the intros but now things are getting interesting imma try an participate more.
Resident of Wyoming, currently employed at an oil refinery, decided I was getting too old for physical labor and to get back into programming after a decade.
Obvs, crypto is the hot place to be atm.
I also hobby as a day trader and a futurist. Iām an ancap looking for more freedom in the world and hope to make contributions.
Rock on!
Freedom and prosperity be with you. Iām an Ancap too. Itās tough being an Ancap in America, I know, I live in Kentucky. How did you get into Cryptos? Sometimes I wish Washington DC would fall into the Potomac River.
I didnāt see the vision of bitcoin when I first heard about it. I mined a few bitcoin when it first came out, that hard drive is long gone, I thought it was stupid internet play money.
It wasnāt till around 2015 I listened to people talking about the vision and understood it.
Iām more of a fan than a user, but Iām increasingly interested in pulling out of fiat and going expat with my family. Thats why Iām here.
What about you? How did you get into it, what are your plans?
I started life as a NeoCon because my Grandfather was a big influence in my life and he was always listening to Rush Limbaugh on the radio and watched Fox news with Bill Oāreilly (strangely he also listened to NPR as well). So politics were always interesting to me and conservative values were taught to me at a pretty young age. That changed for me in my early 20ās when a boss of mine introduced me to libertarianism and the Ron Paul revolution. That led me to discovering about the Fed and how our monetary system worked as a debt based Fiat. I was always researching the Gold Standard because of him. It was always interesting to me but I was also listening to a Christian Financial advisor at the time named Dave Ramsey. I was debt free because of him and started saving some currency but at the same time because of the libertarianism and end the Fed stuff I found Bitcoin when it was like a $200.00. I had about $10,000.00 saved up and I distinctly remember thinking about buying Bitcoin but decided against it because Dave Ramsey was always saying just put it in a no load index fund inside a Roth IRA. So thatās what I did. And I ended up losing a my Job needed the money pulled it out, payed a penalty, and blew it. I always kept an eye on Bitcoin though and it would make me sick. I always would feel like I missed my opportunity as the price would climb and climb. I always felt you had to invest big or go home. The Idea of Dollar Cost Averaging was completely alien to me. I eventually got married and was always talking to my wife about Bitcoin. It would piss her off though because I talked about it but had none. She finally told me to buy some or shut up about it. So I did. I bought $200 dollars worth on Coinbase at $5000 right before the bull run of 2017-2018. I really started stacking sats hard in the bear market. Owned my first full bitcoin at $3,000 or so. I started buying like crazy and got suckered in to the fake bull run in 2019. But Iāve never sold a Sat. Though I have bought a few things with them from some crypto stuff I follow and donated some to causes I believe in. At some point my libertarianism changed to Rothbardian Anarchy.
Sounds very familiar, only I didnāt get out of debt, so even though I was eyeballing it when it dropped from $1000 to $300, I thought it was too risky and never bit the bullet. Not the first opportunity I missed.
I dismissed Ron Paul cause I believed what Fox said, quit Ā® half way through Bush2, spent 10 years trying to figure things out, I didnāt know where to look or what questions to ask. I first found Molyneux and his case for objective ethics and then Larkens case for Voluntarism.
Aaaaand now Iām a loner. lol.
Youāre not a loner just an extreme minority in a country full of Statist. Lol! But thereās others out there who see the world like you do. I think there will be more too as this long term debt cycle begins to deleverage.
I sure hope so, but the ability of people to bury their heads in the sand and proclaim it will work this time, or support policies and then blame others when it goes bad, perpetually astounds me.
Hey Everyone I hope you all are doing well. Starting my Ethereum 101 course now ~ Timestamp @ 4:41 PM EST
Question Regarding EVM as Security Layer to Protect CPU
Hi @ivan @filip. Thanks for the explanation. My question are:
- as ETH2.0 will be using eWASM (no need Solidity, it will compile any supported languages into binary, such as C++, Java, etc), there will be no more EVM ?
- if no more EVM in ETH2.0, how do we cover security ?
Thanks!
Hey @W1LL, hope you are great.
We already covered a lot about the EVM and eWASM on ETH 2.0 in this article:

I think I read somewhere that Solidity is going to be replaced to other language when ETH 2.0 is released. If that turns to be trueā¦ Does it makes sense to learn Solidity at this point?
Solidity will still be used to design smart contract on Ethereum 2.0, so yes, it is still make sense to learn Solidity

here we go ETH TIME
all fired up
Thanks for your reply Another quick question for the experts (@thecil, @ivan, @filip):
If I want to start the ETH programming coursesā¦ In what order is recommended to start? (I see thereās one about Javascript for Blockchain, another of Ethereum Programming [OLD] and also Ethereum Smart Contract Programming 101)
In terms of the fungibility discussed. If BTC is not as fungible as ETH, is there a world where regulations could deem certain UTXOās as āillegalā and therefore harder to transact with?
Should this fungibility difference between ETH and BTC, discourage OTC purchases of BTC or even acquiring BTC from others for goods or services you provide?
Seems about right to me.
I randomly scrolled to your post and I seen you spoke so many of my truthsā¦
I normally skip the intro but now things are getting kinda juicy Iām more active in the discussionsā¦ also been doing physical labour for the last 10 years or so and put my programming abilities to the side until nowā¦ really excited to get back into it.
Check this old reply, is basically the Developer map that we can suggest to follow to get the best of our courses.
