A Decentralized World

I think DeFi is the future of finance in the world. Once we are able to get enough participants willing to deal in cryptocurrency I believe we will move to an economy where I can buy food from a store with a cryptocurrency and not have to consider its value in USD. With transparency we can keep governing bodies accountable however I do see privacy of spending becoming an issue in some cases. I don’t necessarily like the idea of all of my transactions being known to the world (I feel like there is a solution to this and I just don’t know about this yet).

This is a cool recurring thought/idea that I have been having, let’s say we took DeFi a step further and created DeLaw (Decentralized Law). What if constitutions and laws could be made decentralized where all the nodes would have to come to a consensus and only then would a law be passed. Whether a person is guilty of crime or not would not be restricted to a judge or a possibly biased jury, instead all nodes (people) could come to a consensus (I see how voting could be faked with multiple nodes but I believe we can find a way to overcome voter fraud eventually).

Possible example:

if( bigMediaCompany removes user.controversialContent)
{
   return "Obstruction of freedom of speech" ;
}

… all nodes agree
… content is not allowed to be removed and is allowed back on website

This could be deployed worldwide because of the internet almost instantly (if all countries agreed). Everyone in the world would have the same human rights and would follow the same laws.

The extent of the DeFi ecosystem is very impressive. But, given my yet limited understanding, there is one gap between a new user and the ecosystem: How do new users (without mining eth) go from fiat to eth or a stable token in a trustless way?

It appears to be impossible to build a bridge between CeFi and DeFi that is decentralized and trustless itself.

As I see it, there is no way around going from fiat to a trusted exchange and then to your own wallet. Following that thought, however, the only real issue with going through a centralized exchange is that it might be a more involved and hands on process for some people, who might not be blessed with easy KYC verfication methods.

mainframe os

I think mainframe os is a pretty cool project. It seems to be a web based OS that is meant to give people more privacy. In an age where our online activity is being tracked more than ever, a dapp that will allow me to access the same/similar features of the web as it is now but also with privacy sounds very appealing. From reading through their docs it looks like they are in early stages of development and still don’t trust their product yet but I hope they get it right.
Mainframe OS uses a decentralized infrastructure consisting of:

Ethereum, Swarm (for decentralized storage and communications). It also makes use of some custom protocols on top of Ethereum and Swarm to support contracts and apps.

I’m not sure this qualifies but have you looked into the FOLD card/ap?

Great way to earn Satoshi’'s from purchashing stuff at your favorite places.

I think I’m going to nominate Curve.fi which is a liquidity pool for stablecoin trading.

I didn’t check every response but I scanned as many as I could and didn’t see anyone else suggest it and I think it’s mature enough to include on your list.

Everest https://everest.link/ have launched a decentralized registry that allows projects to provide referencable onchain data thanks to the [ERC-1056] Using the Everest subgraph, other applications can showcase project details, eventually adding things like job listing, community events and blog posts.

Everest is building toward a decentralized future where no privileged group has control over public data. Curation allows diverse stakeholders to agree on the contents of a shared registry with neutrality.

Opyn allows you to protect your DeFi deposits and hedge ETH risk. its part of the Defi Insurance section. could have used this before all the vaults got liquidated.

Airswap seems like an interesting DEX

Hi Amadao
Enjoying the course. Thank you.
Have you come across the PEG token and the Pegnet.org system?
I have an account and see it as a great way to switch between assets with virtually no friction and no 3rd party.

What are your thoughts?

This is still in beta but give the best rates …
Also BlockFi is interesting but is centralized and has issues when it will be blocked?

I love Pegnet as well :smiley:
Hope to cover this in DeFi 201

Seems CeFi I would prefere BlockFi over that
