DeFi Ecosystem - Discussion

How do I get help? I am in the DeFi protocol deep dive portion of DeFi 101 #3 using the DAI savings rate assignment. It has taken me something like 4 days to figure out how to get a kovan ETH token. Now I’m stuck in Oasis.I have 1 kovan ETH on a meta mask wallet. After having to wait a day because the last time I thought I got one I must have sent it somewhere else. So I had to wait 24 hrs in order to get another one. Not even knowing if that would work. When I click on metaMask. I get
“oasis.app says
Error: browser ethereum provider and URL network param do not match”.
Can someone help me. I don’t want to spend 4 days on getting past this if I can help it

Can you explain why you think this is DeFi?
Thank you.

Eventually there is the hope that people will be educated enough to understand that a decentralized alternatives offers more safety … time will make this more and more clear where in my view there will be a zero DAY for USDT … where it will all come falling down this is gonna be brutal but that day will come. Or transactions will be censored ETC on the long run decentralized assets like DAI will overrule them all.

Hope to see you there.

Thanks for the reply, it is very thoughtful of you.

I have issue connecting Kovan Metamask to Oasis Kovan network.
I get this error from the website each time “Error: browser ethereum provider and URL network param do not match.”
What am I doing wrong?

Hi Amadeo,

Is it possible to cover payment protocol like Sablier or StablePay in your DeFi Ecosystem overview.

Hi Amadeo,

The information you’re providing is invaluable and I’m reading and re-reading your links. I don’t feel I have the skills to decipher which projects would be worthy of adding to the databse. This is a rabbit hole for me at the moment. So I’m making a guess with this one, please let me know how I did;

Input crypto: ETH, can support all tokens from other blockchains?
Problem they fix: the project’s goal is to create a universal sidechain for public blockchains to benefit from privacy features.

@amadeobrands check this… https://piedao.org/

“BTC++ is a weighed allocation between the different representations of Bitcoin on Ethereum. Bitcoin, for DeFi, diversified.”

Great course. Learning a lot. Thank you!

hi amadeo, i’m sorry, i really didn’t look under the hood. i think i was impressed with his ambition to help his people through his acoin.
i love your classes. i,ve been doing assignments ahead of the next class i noticed.:joy:. after watching and doing that a couple times,

i won’t be doing that anymore.:slightly_smiling_face:.rewatching makerdeo and compound now. lots of links too. this class really puts how it works

learnable. i’ll be stretching my brain for a really good question or two. thank you for reaching out to me.

Hello Amadeo. I am concerned about the safety of Compound due to the imminent adoption of USDT as a collateral, what do you think about that?

Nice, i used a bit but when after pledging my eos and get eosdt, next step to buy more eos is a bit easy to do it but maybe not enough dapp exchanges list eosdt or interact with wallet such as token pocket. still trying to figure it out but hope someone more techy to demonstrate here easily.

Thanks for this course Amadeo! Discovering the DeFi space is incredibly exciting, and I love all links you post at the end of every lesson.

One question, I’ve notice some protocols like Compound allow you to connect your ledger to interact with smart contracts. How safe do you think it is? Or is it still better using a hot wallet like Metamask?

Thanks in advance!

Enjoyed the past few videos very much. Was hearing about getting these collateralized loans but was not sure if I could while in the US, think I am going to take one out using zerion… Seemed rather user friendly as well as having a lot of nice features and good UI.

Good point. I am also a fan of Aave (Lend)

Doing some research I found Connext, it sounds interesting for instant micro-transactions with low to no fees, and their Dai Card seems promising, makes it easy to make payments with Dai.

Hi @amadeobrands - I found Ledn.

With Ledn you can save and borrow BTC. Ledn is based out of Canada. One of the founders is from Venezuela. They have also their services in Spanish and seems to be growing in LATAM.

Thank you!

Hey everyone!
So what I have been coming to understand about the DeFi Ecosystem is that each project that is being created seems to have been using parts of other DeFi projects. Similar to how javascript works.
So does that mean that we would be able to use the smart contracts, code and protocols that other projects have already been using?

Because DeFi acts as legos with many pieces, doesn’t this raise the risk of error as one “broken lego” can ruin the whole project?
