I think its the nodes Nodes form the infrastructure of a blockchain . All nodes on a blockchain are connected to each other and they constantly exchange the latest blockchain data with each other so all nodes stay up to date. They store, spread and preserve the blockchain data, so theoretically a blockchain exists on nodes .

All full nodes have a copy of the blockchain. You will learn more about it later in the course.
Users using a simple lightweight software wallet (SPV) will basically query other full nodes who have the whole blockchain.

When you speak of bitcoin programmers who are these people? How do you become one? How can we trust them to take the coin in the correct direction? You say Vitalik pitched his ideas to them but i thought Satoshi created the coin and it cannot be changed?

In starting to research cyrptocurrencies and blockchain systems I ran across IOTA and Tangle. Seems like it could be the next evolution of blockchain (e.g. increasing transactions, reducing cost, mitigating the “quantum” issue/risk) or operating as another main mechanism for users when blockchain may not apply or be optimal. Any thoughts?

Even its possible, it takes so long that make it useless by the nowdays computers. Perhaps with quantum computers no, but we have time to adapt…

I think one way of addressing Finality for retailer customers is to use Escrow.
When I learn more about smart contracts I’ll be able to say better, but I think using a retail smart contract utilizing escrow will circumvent some of the concerns with Finality and returning funds or reversing a transaction before it is recorded in the Blockchain…?
