I just looked up Thortspace and am just wondering…If I am only using it for my own notes is the free plan good enough for now?
I have a question about the projected scarcity of BTC and selling altcoins. If the supply of BTC is going to be more and more scarce how will that potentially affect the selling of altcoins. Say I want to sell something like LINK, will it mean that it will be hard to sell because few will want to part with their BTC? I realize this does depend on how good the altcoin is and that if it’s not a good project, it will be hard to sell regardless. Just wondering what peoples’ thoughts are on the relationship.
As I start learning about the blockchain I tend to think that the blockchain concept was created with a digital currency (btc) in mind. Was this right? or the blockchain and the btc are separate concepts that came together with the creation of the btc? where there previous blockchain formats/system in existence before?
Sorry for not researching this topic before throwing this question, at this point my knowledge is very basic and I rather have knowledgeable people commenting on this topic rather than me getting all confused trying to decipher amounts of highly technical information,
From what I understand BTC was the original blockchain and it was for transactional purposes, with BTC being the currency. It became apparent that there were other use cases for the blockchain. This question is a test for me, to see if I understood what I just learned. The evolution of BTC, ETH and subsequent cryptos, projects etc. is very well explained in these courses. It just takes time to get through the material but you’ll find your questions are answered. Sometimes it’s helpful to go back to previous lessons to make sure the fundamental material was understood. And I may have to after this question.
I’m not sure either. I think blockchain in particular as we know it was developed specifically for Bitcoin. Other concepts like PoW to secure it were used before in history, first used in HashCash way back in 1997.
There were other currencies as well but none have gained the popularity of Bitcoin that is why its now considered the granddady of all currencies that came after it.
I don’t know how to answer that, personally the only reason I buy shit…khm - altcoins is to accumulate more Bitcoin and nothing else
Loving this course so far and loving the mind maps.
WOW thank you to this community to introducing me to Thortspace (sorry I lost OP in the depths of hundreds of replies by now. I’m quite late to this)… for about 2 years now I’ve had an idea about 3 dimensional mind-mapping for what I call ‘layered learning’, where the individual can create a 3D visual representation of information/data storage of how they learned a topic or skill. I have mixed feelings of something similar to this existing already
That’s what I’m hoping as well.
I hit complete after each session. However, after completing the Basics (first class) it says that I completed 61 of 67 sessions. I reviewed to see if any check marks were missing or an assignment I missed and could not find any. Do we get docked if we take too long to answer a question and that would contribute to a lesser score?I have a Certificate of Completion. Guess that is what matters.
@Lorraine, hope you are ok.
It might be the browser you are using ( what browser are you using?), maybe the ad-block or shields does not trigger some of our platform functions, should try with another one.
Also it could be an specific lesson (s)? maybe you can point me which lessons are giving you the error so i can try to replicate it, but if you got the certificate its proof that you complete the lessons, still could be a bug on your browser cache or something
Try it with another browser, just to check if all lessons are marked as completed, if not, let us know again to check from our side if there something not working properly.
If you have any more questions, please let us know so we can help you!
Carlos Z.
Carlos, I am satisfied with the check off list completed and the certificate. There is so much more to cover and so many more courses. Lovely education, inspiring, motivating… so I might miss something along the way. I like my browser and do not want to switch at this time. Thank you for your suggestions.

Learning… I am excited at a Blockchain Revolution and wish to participate. So far, I have made profits as an investor in ADA, TRX, XLM, DOGE, RAV, BAT, MATIC, BTC etc… I migrated having started out on eToro I found my way to Coinbase and now see that if I buy ETH on Coinbase I can send it to Bitswap or Uniswap and get something that has a potential to make big returns. I am watching Ivan on Tech on Youtube and some other info videos and have plenty of incoming information about investments that could be big winners and it is so exciting to see us in the first cycle of a major bull run. So these developing platforms that are software and blockchain related are coming out and new developments upcoming. Example- Charles Hoskinson says" You don’t get something for nothing." Getting a little hot about scammers and created a Anti scam team at ADA. So as I grow to learn more about these investments maybe I will do ok at crypto. I am excited and am thirsty for more info.
A bit late… but thank you! I am trying to read through their white paper and have checked out some of the websites that are using them. Next step is to contact them!
Happy to be a part of this course, am learning a lot and looking forward to learning more
Appreciate your enthusiasm. Blockchain technology seems to be a blessing in “such a time as these. (global financial volatility)” At the same time, I just finished a Q and A that offered some precautions. Take precautions seriously.
Bull markets of any assets are a blast when they are happening. It is a wonderful time to be smart. I read today that Ripple CEO is selling a big chunk of his share, and I wonder about my investment in XRP? When I like the foundational aspects of a cryptoasset such as XRP, I plan to stay the course, not sell. First SEC, now What? LOL
Loving the course so far! I can’t wait to start programming!
I’m enjoying this Blockchain course, it’s amazing, this academy’s amount of resources and the structure of their program is very enjoyable to learn. It’s very easy and straightforward. I caught myself working on my zombie more than coming and responding on the forum. I literally just learned how to code with Solidity for games with zombies!!!. This Academy and this community is awesome!!!
Definitely explore #4 in their Popular Links if you want to learn more about Smart Contracts being used for gaming.
I was missing a discussion about the downsides of blockchains. Like the massive usage of electricity. Bitcoin is said to consume more electricity than Argentina. Is this sustainable?
Do all blockchains have this weakness?
What about competing technologies? I’ve heard of something called hashgraph. If I invest hundreds of hours in learning about blockchain tech, will this be lost if hashgraph will become the dominant tech in a few years?
