To develop a useful dynamic web application, one must incorporate both front end and back end developers and tools. The front end developer programs the code that interacts directly with the user on the client side using three basic programming languages and a set of frameworks and tools that make the code more manageable and organized. HTML is the core coding language that creates and organizes the infromation to be presented and displayed by the web browser. CSS is an accompanying language that defines the look and feel of the content, like the colors, the layout, and the fonts. Lastly, Javascript is used to usher in the functionality of the user interface, like creating drop down menus, opening new windows to view content, and displaying forms like contact . All of this comes together to create a static web page that can display specific information about the business or topic for which the information is being presented.
But what if you need to do more? How about opening an online store? what if you need to create an email list? This is where your website or application needs to be transformed into a dynamic web application, which means users can interact with the site or app, and the content or information can change based on user selections or inputs.
Enter the back end developer. back end developers are responsible for the server side of the operations and communications of the web app or website. Not only do back end developers ensure that the logic runs smoothly, they also deploy the communication from your project to the necessary databases that fetch the information your users need. Communication between your front end application and the servers on the back end are vital to the functionality of any dynamic web application, and the severs use different languages and programs than the front end. most of the databases run on some iteration of SQL, but oracle is another common language they use to organize and fetch data.
In conclusion, modern dynamic web applications and sites require a unified effort and communication between client side and server side devices, and usually require a Web Designer, and Front end developer, and a back end developer. However, there are developers who are FULL STACK, who can handle both front end and back end development.
