I recently left my job working for someone to else to pursue my dream of working for myself. I am in the 2nd month of this journey and realized I have already developed some bad habits, choosing activities with instant gratification (like playing computer games) rather than increasing my value through constructive activities (like completing this academy). I have set the goal to complete the full Academy in 6 months, foregoing the “now” desires for future success.

get up earlier and keep the same bedtime

Reducing the instant gratification of playing video games, and spending more time studying is a great example.

I could set up a schedule and make time for learning, work, sleep, time off etc. This would pay off in the longer term as I become more focused when I need to and don’t feel bad wasting time when I plan it.

Quitting smoking is definitely difficult but you can do it! Don’t give up!

Instead of going down the rabbit hole of watching short YouTube videos for HOURS, I could choose to rest my eyes (eyesight is getting worse lately) and listen to podcasts or audio books. That would probably help me fall asleep better too!

I think I should spend more time on pastimes and less time on work and education. Working all day gives me instant gratification and satisfaction, but I think this will harm me long term.

I could sacrifice 30 mins of netflix / entertainment per day to spending 30 mins to study per day. More knowledge gained per day would translate to increased earning power over a period of time.

going to bed early since i would be able to wake up and get things done sooner rather then being less productive.

FOMO’ing into crypto pumps is an instant gratification habit I need to be carefull of!
Although sometimes it’s paid off, I’ve found on average it’s better to wait for a dip if it’s a company I really believe investing in & aim for medium-long term returns, as opposed to making a quick day-trade profit.

First habit that comes to mind is my eating habits. I eat way too much fast food instead of home cooked meals. I know I would be healthier, happier and have more energy in the future, but that easy quick satisfaction from McDonald’s is always there.

I need to control my spending of extra funds that come in unexpectedly. When those funds come in, I need to put them up for 5 days and truly evaluate what they need to be allocated toward.

After this world pandemic I have decided to change my education, after 8 years of experience in hospitality industry I have made new plans and set new goals to achieve the upcoming year. Once I finish my courses in the Academy my next goal is to start working as a developer hopefully on a good project. I really believe that with this fact of changing my preference towards education, I will spent less time while having more income. :slightly_smiling_face:

I want to do more sport have more sleep, more time with my kids and wife in a perfect balance with work. This would give me more satisfation.
This could work very well in the future for me. I will do what is needed to accomplish this,
For example these courses. Buy time!!!

I could get up one hour before and use this time to study this course,.

I could sleep earlier and wake up earlier to get more things done during the day, this will aid my circadian rhythm and have long term health benefits.

I have been at the same weight for a long time and need to stick with a plan to get it down again. It’s my habits with food. I need to eat when I am hungry not because it is there. Intermittent fasting might be a good fit for me.
