less TV time, more excercises in the woods helping me to recreate better
Propose a change you could make to one of your habits, that would reduce your time preference from high (instant gratification) to low (delayed gratification) time preference. It could relate to any aspect of your life (financial, diet, exercise, relationships or education).
I could go to sleep 30 mins early and wake up 30 min early, if it doesnāt affect my health, i will be trading āDeadā Hours for active hours.
I could leave my phone in my bedroom each time I begin studying. This forces me to stay focused on my studies, and creates a āblockā to scrolling the net. I can give myself time after studying to enjoy my phone. If I would walk to my room to distract myself I would notice my lack of focus more. This gives me two benefits. One is that I can focus on studying blockchain with less distractions, and two I can use my phone time as a reward for a long days work.
My proposed change to one of my habits is attending Ivan on Technology and learning about the technology of blockchain and itās currencies. I may approach these studies differently as lessens demand more time or research. Within 24 hours a day tradeoffs must be made to facilitate more time for reading, studying and computer time. Finances the same, diet the same. Exercise can be compromised. Not a good trade⦠due to health reasons, should not. Never give up conditioning activities. In these times of the great Virus, relationships have changed monumentally (hopefully not forever). These times require supporting other people, both friends and family. Life on hold to some degree. Education and learning is the path for resilience and making life interesting. My grandchildren are following in our footsteps and doing well in virtual schooling and sports (though with restrictions). There is a season for instant gratification, but not now. Getting all the lifestyle activities and habits in balance is the goal.
I could go yeild farming yams rather than hitting pub!!
Instead of spending 15ā per day looking at the cryptos chart and thinking it would be great if I actually understood what are those projects about and if they are good to invest in, I spend it on studying blockchain myself. Similarly, reducing money on clothes and entertainment; and spend them on investing instead.
I would like to get up early regularly, rather than sleeping in till the last minute, so as to stop chasing the lost time during the rest of the day. For instance, if I donāt get up and do my yoga first thing, chances are I wonāt find time for it during the rest of the day anymore.
Spend more time on Ivan course
When I have a break at work, I find myself watching YouTube videos that donāt always offer insight. Instead, Iād like to either watch videos that provide insight and/or education me, or read a book in the time I have on break.
Stop ordering in food as much as I do, and start cooking more. This will save me money at the end of the month.
Iāve started since this month to use my smartphone as less as i can, precisely to have a display time with 1.5 hours and to use just for communicate and business. Because now I use the smartphone like 2-3 hours a day most part is spending time with playing or instagram, which are both non neccessery and time wasting. I havenāt receive my target yet but nearly.
I have started studying too many topics (Blockchain Programming, Affiliate Marketing, Trading, and selling on Amazon), which have caused me to not focus on any single one. The result? I have not been able to successfully complete any.
So, I am determined to tackle them one at a time. That way I can be more productive in my learning experience.
Moving possibly from smoking (instant satisfaction) to eating pistachios⦠cost about the same⦠but it takes forever to crack through a pistachio especially when its coat is near sealed to enjoy 1!
I could quit smoking. This would deprive me of the quick gratification from nicotine while in the long run I would feel better and breathe easier. This would also have financial savings of healthcare and tobacco.
I am about to drink water only, attempt to go to bed earlier and wake up earlier for meditation and exercise. This will lead to feeling better and being more prepared each day. Hopefully, that will have a positive, exponential effect on my life. I know it will because I have done this before, but let a tragedy drop me back into bad habits and depression. No mas!

My habit change would be to procrastinate less, the gratification of holding off on something when it is due or needed for the feeling of freedom to do what I want now, In exchange for completing things ahead of time, delaying my current freedom, for truly free time to do what I want with no pending items on my schedule, true freedom. āDiscipline equals Freedomā - Jocko Willink.
Just the fact of wanting to generate independent income slows down my time preference, because I focus my time more on education rather than social approval consumption habits.
Well come to think of it, i am trying to lose some weight and from Monday to Friday I try to eat healthy and ration the portions but in comes the weekend and all hell breaks lose hahahaha.
I am looking into just having that one āCheatā day and keep the portions or meals healthier. Crazy to think about because its related to how much i might spend on junk food as well on the weekend.
Well i can say that in this year, since coming back into Crypto and really giving everything i have to it, i have cut back on as many outgoings as i can in order to transfer my wealth onto the blockchain. Less of everything now for more of everything later!
I believe reducing oneās time preference has a lot to do with psychology and peer pressure, so I am convinced one of the best ways to reduce my time preference is to surround myself with people who have a low time preference and subsequenly prioritize things like saving money and working out in order to help their future self. Hanging out less with people with a high time preference or cutting them out of my life completely might be tough to do, but I am sure Iāll be glad I did.
