Activity Lesson 2

I work as a pastry chef and I tend to eat too much sweets. I could consume much less sweets throughout the working day, perhaps just limiting myself to just once a day or just tasting to ensure quality. This would definitely help with my overall health by lessening my empty caloric intake and reducing the risk of developing a disease like diabetes, ensuring better health in the future.

Making sure I always have time to not only enjoy the relationships around me but as well as develop them whether it may be with my girlfriend or social networking. Knowledge is a huge part of my life and learning something new is addictive, taking the time to understand I do not need instant gratification and that knowledge is a life time thing is something that would be beneficial.

Q: Propose a change you could make to one of your habits, that would reduce your time preference from high (instant gratification) to low (delayed gratification) time preference. It could relate to any aspect of your life (financial, diet, exercise, relationships or education).

I think one thing i should keep control is the time i spend in entertainment stuff, xbox, netflix, tv, etc. Once i finish a task i feel i can deserve some time with games or stuff.
But actually i can keep on doing my homeworks instead of spending time in that kind of things.

I work in advertising and spend alot of my time pretending to do the hard work of thinking, that is sitting and staring into space at the beginning of a project. I tell myself this is a necessary part of the process but really it’s just procrastination. If I began the processes I know lead to result, scamping, research, executing roughly, I could allow myself more time to craft better and more impactful work later on in the project.

I could use my bicycle more often instead of the car, although the trip would take longer it would also mean that i did not have to spend extra hours making money to buy gas to power the car. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

One of my questionable habits is that I tend to drink too much coffee. I work in shifts, sometimes overnight, and I use coffee during a day or night for energy boosts (instant gratification). The downside of this excessive consumption of coffee is that when I try to sleep, I can’t, or I just sleep a few hours at a time. That in turn makes me even more tired in the next day. I should cut drinking coffee, which would make me sleep better and maintain overall better health condition (delayed gratification).

I could invest 1 hour in yoga practices and meditation in order to lessen my sleep quota and therefore spend more time on education, which then will result in a better job.

This so-called episode you mention is often a mere anxiety. I simply use meditation. Just observing my breath when inhaling and exhaling to slow things down. Once I do that I regain calmness I am again at present moment. This is what I do. It is a part of being discipline.

For every dollar I plan to spend on non-essential purchases (I know, up for debate), I could mandate that 20% of those funds must be saved or invested for long-term savings/hoddling. That would decrease the supply of funds available and create more thoughts on what deserved the spending.

I could sell the unnecessary car I bought that’s just sitting on the drive eating up cash with tax and insurance etc just because I wanted it and could afford it, wait for more crypto gains and the possibility of a new career in crypto with higher income and buy a far better car later while still having cash left over…
This has actually been on my mind for a while lol.
