Activity Lesson 2

Propose a change you could make to one of your habits, that would reduce your time preference from high (instant gratification) to low (delayed gratification) time preference. It could relate to any aspect of your life (financial, diet, exercise, relationships or education).Instead of buying junk food or a fast food meal I could open a cryptocurrency account and put money into that.**

for me personal it is important to wait at least 3days after the first excitement that I should buy that new gadjet. most of the time if I wait 3days I don’t buy it.

To stop smoking and spending out less. That means more money for crypto.

In order to maintain my ideal weight and increase my bio markers, I will only eat a Christmas treat twice per week during the Christmas season This decision extends my time preference in order that I may feel better after Christmas and it will actually improve my health.

Spending more time on educating myself instead of watching netflix or youtube.

this must be sweets…when I buy some, I finish all of them almost instantly…I really should take smaller portions, and that would be a delayed gratification

In my finances, I can start saving modest amounts at regular intervals and set up a place readily available to invest that money. In the meantime obtain more education to bring in more income while beginning to save and invest more all without increasing spending.

Getting more night sleep, waking up early and going for a walk/run everyday will help immensely with reducing stress and having more energy; a better day overall.

I have the freedom to set my own schedule today but have been undisciplined in putting in online study time. My change is to set a minimum amount of hours for daily and weekly online study and measure progress towards my goals.

I think a great example of what I could do to reduce my time preference from high to low would be to cook my own meals. Currently, I order a food delivery service called Freshly that pre-cooks my meals and comes in a box every week. Although this saves on time for both cooking and cleaning, if I were to cook all my meals, I could save the $60 I spend per week to buy food that I cook instead. I could meal prep on Sundays which would help with cooking/cleaning during the week. I spend about $10 per meal which is quite a lot when compared to the alternative of meal prepping. Additionally, meal prepping would allow me to create a healthy diet that could reduce my body weight to an acceptable level.

i have sacrificed by diet and social norms for the value in the future of what i think the value of my weight being lower;

Now that i have achieved my goal, i have a sense of commitment to myself so that I do to not overeat but eat whatever i want and be there to enjoy it every bite.

I pay for Ivan on Tech tech that my future income stay ahead of the true infaltion, if not a deflation of job security and real incomes

Making small healthier choices now, like not giving into the temptation to make less healthy meals and eat unhealthy snacks (because of less balanced meals🙈) will not only lead to a healthier/longer life for me and my kids but also lead to better productivity and mental welbeing.

I could (should) make a commitment to break up the amount of time I spend sat at a desk and instead use that time to exercise or go outdoors. I always put it off (instant) rather than investing in my future health (delayed).

I could eat earlier most evening and the break my fast effectively 1 to 2 hours later than usual this would take more advantage of being in Ketosis and allow my body to heal it’s self for longer.

Every time I see or hear a notification on my phone, I will not open my phone to see what it is and delay instant gratification. The phone addiction is real.

A change I want to make is towards my spending habits. To reduce my time preference from high to low in my financial habits I would like to set up a budget and stick to it. Allocating less of my budget towards consumption and more towards investing is the main goal of this budget. Coupled with the budget, I would like to also “learn to contently live with less” and “avoid the post-earnings urge to spend.”

A change that I could make would be to go to bed and wake up at a consistent time every day. This would allow me to have more energy throughout the day and accomplish more tasks, such as getting more exercise, completing more courses work, or eating a healthier diet.

On the relationship front, I had sustained my life from “High School” through late adulthood on being in relationships, mostly on the so called need for “Lust / Passion”. Instant Gratification at it’s best. Realizing much later in life, after loosing a home, part of my pay check, and then job. That this was truly a life waster for me.

I could make the effort to use my treadmill for exercise every day instead of 3-4 times per week. This means that even if I’m late home from work, I defer other activities for (a mere!) 20 minutes or so.

One habit that I feel that would reduce my time preference would be eat out less, and start to cook at home more often. Financially it would help me out. I could use those saved funds and put more of it into different investment to help preserve my wealth and earn passive income
