I notice depending on which candles I am using the RSI indicator values are different. How do I make sense of the different values?
Hi there, the RSI values are calculated based on the values of the candles on the chart.
Each RSI value is its relative strength to the previous (x) number of candles. For example a 14 period RSI on the 1 hour chart compares a candle to the last 14 hours of price action data. But a 14 period RSI on a 1 minute chart only compares a candle to the last 14 minutes of price action data.
To make sense of the values, use the RSI on a timeframe that you would typically use to make a trading decision.
I hope that helps
