I’ve put in a bit, but its not really enough to warrant the gas costs, and most sites it seems (like Compound) require a certain number to make the transaction worth (the gas cost, I think).
Thanks @amadeobrands for these classes. I have a question regarding testnets.
I tried to use Rinkeby testnet, and I managed to send some ETH but then I can’t transfer them on any platform. What is the difference between Rinkeby and Kovan?
Thanks
Kovan is POA based and a bit faster
Rinkeby is just ETH testnet
Can i do it on Rinkeby then? Thanks again
What! Insane. Like I told my brother (who turned me on to the academy), this is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen.
Hi Amadeo,
what does this mean on Qasis.app, …
error; browser ethereum provider and URL network param do not match. !?
When i try to use the testnet, Kovan. !?
Hi Amadeo…
I am now looking into Compound…!
yesterday on Oasis, i received this message, Oasis app says; Error : browser ethereum provider and URL network param do not match. !?
it was concerning trying to use metamask with Kovan testnet on the oasis platform. !?
Hi Amadeo…
I have posted my recent transfer from metamask to Compound 0.1 eth…
there was a message letting me know, somebody had already posted it 14 days ago, do you want to go ahead…
obviously the same amount was used 0.1 eth.
I can assure you it is original, just like me…
loving the course brother…Thank You…!!
There are already gold backed crypto currencies such as Paxos Gold (PAXG) and Tether Gold (XAUT).
Another example is DGX which has been established for much longer. It has a stable value compared to gold with 1 DGX = 1 gram of gold.
It was created by Digix the creators of DAO.
One of the objectives of Digix is to tokenize real world assets so the technology is already available to peg a coin to commodities. It’s just a matter of adoption.
Ideally you would want to peg the currency to a basket of commodities to reduce fluctuations even further.
Another approach to keeping the purchasing power of a stable coin might be to slowly increase the peg of a dollar pegged stable coin. This way the value of the token would increase in dollar terms to compensate for the decreasing purchasing power of the dollar. The problem with such a peg would be finding the extra dollars to keep the reserves in line.
Here is an interesting article about gold backed stablecoins.
Hi Amadeo…
I have now posted a link of me just lending my Eth to borrow Bat…
After a couple of days of frustration Finally crossed the first hurdle just to encounter the next on as seen in image below. What am I missing? I also see in the forum about
drs-demo-master folder is available. I would like the link. maybe that might solve the issue.
why is the interest rate so low now… I thought it was profitable to leave your stable tokens there and make some money.
I had similar error message. If you are using brave browser Metamask extension, that might be the problem. Brave has an inbuilt crypto wallet, which is selected by default by Oasis causing this issue(atleast in my case)
Could someone link an article explaining why the DSR is currently 0.00% right now when only a few month ago in March it was 8% at the time of this recording? I understand the process that the owners of MKR may have voted to lower it to 0% but I would like to find the reasoning behind it.
Thanks!
Thanks, this was a good exercise. Great that kovan ETH works with compound and oasis.
The fees add up fast though. Went from 1 to .95 ETH in no time. I think it was eaten mostly when trying to enable token for trading. But there was no liquidity for trading - is it different on main net compared to kovan?
What’s the advantage of borrowing currency/token vs exchanging? Is it meant to be beneficial for short term loan? If I somehow spend/loose borrowed crypto (say DAI) I have to exchange some anyway to pay back, no? Exchanging is cheaper in the long run?

Hi Yovan,
Well now you have mentioned brave, the subject was brought up by my girlfriend, last night whilst out having dinner…
What did you do Yovan, to correct it. !?
best Leon
Hi Leo,
Go to Settings–>Crypto wallet
There you can change the Network. Or maybe import your other wallet there.
Cheers,
Yovan
Nice one Yovan,
I will get right on that, have a TOP day…!!
Leon.
I’m seeing vder low rates on these protocols. Can anyone explain to me the reason?
