Using the DAI savings rate - Assignment

Hi @amadeobrands i just supplied som BAT on compound but im confused as to why nothing is coming up on Supply Balance?

I swapped DAI for BAT on Uniswap then added it to Compound… It was confirmed on Etherscan so not sure whats happened. There is something on this image attached that may shed some light.

Has any one encountered this before?

I do not fully understand your question.
But you can just reconnect a wallet as you please.
Just click the part where your wallet is connected.

I think to get this understanding correct best watch DeFi 101 where I show how to interact with the compound smart contract without a GUI (Interface).
Have an amazing weekend.

Hi rob hope your doing great.
See here 2 places to get a overview of the rates.

If you really want to be pro I would recommend also interacting with Compound without the interface
I teach this also in the DeFi 101 course.

ive been using comp with my ZRX lending, not borrowing aswell. I use metamask already aswell as token sets. I need to mess around with etherscan aswell which you have helped with. I love all the new ideas popping up, i am not a developer yet and when i get my head around all the defi world i am sure i will see gaps opening up. As you lecture i think of new ideas and the next minute you are talking about them so I could tag along with the rest and build a similar dapp or come up with some new genius idea, who knows yet time will tell. Thanks I am enjoying your in depth content so far…

Thanks for your reply @amadeobrands - sorry if that was not clear. I could not disconnect from the smart contract, this is what I wanted to do.

I have completed the Defi 101 course and noted the guidelines given, however the differences between performing functions on the testnet and the main net were not covered, for example - zero percent interest rates on the test net.

It appears to be disconnected now, however I was concerned as the interest rate was 0% and I had not accrued enough Dai to repay the loan.

If you are liquidated on the Kavan testnet, how does that work?

Are there any further considerations for test net users?

Thanks, all the best!

@Rob_McCourt how are you getting on with this? It looks similar to the amount I’d be willing to have a go with but I’m not quite confident enough yet. How long do you think you will keep this going for if you don’t mind me asking? I’m also keeping my eye open for the best rates!

@Rob_McCourt what was the issue here, was it just a delay? Cheers - Jack

I’ve tried to use Oasis with my Trezor today and is saying that I need to update firmware of trezor , but is updated…I dont feel comfortable to use Metamask with expressive amounts of money…So, I think maybe oasis need to check this problem with Trezor, I will wait…or I will send a small amount to metamask just to have this experience!!

I will do this , once in exchanges the rate to withdraw COMP to wallet is a little high!!

I opened the metamask, Transfered some small ETH 0.44 to it and conected in Oasis. Oasis generated the Vault for 4.15 usd ± , I think this is a one time fee of Maker. Now I’m trying to wrap ETH in order to trade but there is some glitch happening

, I don’t know if I’m not doing something right, it keeps signing but not concludes the wrap procedure  . Well, I will try tomorrow.
I just realized it was the Brave Shield, I had to turn off and close and restart, It is working all!!

Added some Ethereum to the MetaMask wallet and used the Oasis.app site to borrow some funds by vaulting the Ethereum. Once the Ethereum was vaulted I had access to 20 DAI. There’s so much going at the same time that I’m not sure if I’ll make any returns and hopefully I don’t loose either. I need to look at this a bunch more to fully understand what is really happening.

So I bought some ETH, moved it to MetaMask, looked at minting some DAI in Oasis but the gas fee was $9 so instead staked it in Compound and borrowed some DAI, took a look at Chai but the DAI Savings Rate was 0% so instead deposited it in Aave.

The main takeaway I got from all this is that gas is expensive and quickly builds up.

I still can’t quite get my head around why I would want to take a loan with the risk of liquidation when I already have the collateral. This is probably due to my ignorance of economics and money markets. I guess this is because DAI is useful because it’s pegged to USD?

Probably also I kinda feel playing around here that the bitcoin maximalists have a point, centralisation could be a creeping risk in DeFi for all the promises to the contrary.

Done. I managed to withdraw my stake and then staked again

Great stuff.

Thanks …

I have a MetaMask wallet connected to my Google Chrome browser; however, I cannot move any further in my experience because I have no Ethereum in my wallet. So I am unable to open a maker CDP, mint DAI tokens, or put DAI tokens into a compound. Plus, some of the information seems to go directly over my head.

I tried to test the kovan Ethereum network; however, it would not let me.

I am barely a college student, so much of this is not easy for me to understand. It’s a lot to take in, that’s for sure.

We could try to create new stablecoins and decentralized reserve banks–that’s just a suggestion; I cannot think of anything more. My brain is tired.

Thanks!
