Homework on Security & Immutability - Questions

Security is increased in blockchain because we no longer are forced to convince an authority to make the change on our behalf. Instead we trust only the math. we can see everything in the process its completely open for review.

Its extremely dangerous to trust a central authority in any part of out lives as a central authority has the ability to change the rules as we go and that leaves us exposed to harm.

  1. How does a decentralized network increase security?
It’s driven by math and protocol, and that’s it. It’s trustless.

  2. Why is it dangerous to trust a central authority for security?
A centralized security system is only as safe as the officers in charge it. It requires trust that policies will be followed. It’s subject to human error and malicious intent.

decentralized network has no head the network can not be taken down in the traditional sense.

Central authority is someone who has declared themselves as an authority. Never good. let the market move.

  1. It takes out a third party, it’s like a P2P network. It works on mutual consensus on the ledger.
  2. A central authority or third party will be able to corrupt your data, or worse, shut you down.
  1. A decentralized network increases security by eliminating trust factors. In a decentralized network, trust is put into math and protocol rather than people.
  2. A central authority is not as reliable as following protocol and math. There is always an opportunity for corruption.
  1. How does a decentralized network increase security?
It is harder to make separated attacks to different nodes.
  2. Why is it dangerous to trust a central authority for security?
It is easier to make an attack focused only in one actor.
  1. It increases security by instead of trusting third parties to hold data you trust the math and protocall.

  2. it is dangerous to trust a central authority because all the infastructures are seperated.

  1. Using a decentralized network increases security by not using third party organizations and only requiring the individual to trust the network, or the math and protocol that keeps record of the transactions. These are concepts that cannot be bought or hacked, allowing for knowledge that all verified transactions can be trusted.

  2. It is dangerous to trust a central authority for security because this type of centralized network can be breached, bribed or hacked, and any information that has been stored can be released or sold to third parties.

A decentralized network that is public and not controlled by any one person, corporation, or government that can’t be erased is security for truth because it does not lie.
Central authority is dangerous because they hold all power and decide what truth is.
.

  1. It becomes the Global infrastructure protocol that unites everyone under one standard that is immutable. Provenance through consensus.
  2. Central authorities control all of your sensitive information and or financial data. These databases are continually being hacked into. Data can easily be erased, lost or manipulated.
  1. By replying on math and protocols which no one can break

  2. Central authority can change the data anytime

  1. How does a decentralized network increase security?

We trust math and protocol and not a central authority. The information is public and it’s immutable. By using consensus it is hard to change the rules and the information so it is more solid.

The protocol can unite everyone and we don’t need to be dependent on some company software or services.

  1. Why is it dangerous to trust a central authority for security?

Because it can change it’s rules by it’s own will. It can be taken down. It can be hacked. It can be unethical. It can be made by court to give away secure information…

A decentralised network increases security as information is shared and verified by others

A central authority has complete control and can change things at a whim.

  1. A decentralized network increases security by having a large number of networks on a global scale that are standardized. Blockchain is a decentralized network that allows for everyone to use the same standards and infrastructure. Security is obtained from only having to trust the network.

  2. It is dangerous to trust a central authority for security because all decisions are made by a single authority or organization. There’s no collaboration between parties to bring about a best solution.

  1. How does a decentralized network increase security?
  • By eliminating the need to trust in one organization: we TRUST the network. Thanks to blockchain we can tear down information silos, so we can have a unified global infrastructure that is totally immutable. We believe in MATH, in the protocols.
  1. Why is it dangerous to trust a central authority for security?
  • Because a central authority can manipulate data, it can be hacked, it can change our data at will, or we risk to be victims of illicit harvesting data, per example: Cambridge Analytica and Facebook.
  1. How does a decentralised network increase security?
  • By removing trust in third parties. There is no single point of failure in a decentralised network, thereby bolstering the security of the network.
  1. Why is it dangerous to trust a central authority for security?
  • A central authority is an intermediary and open to single point failures.
  1. How does a decentralized network increase security?
By overruling centralised actors that tries to break the network.
  2. Why is it dangerous to trust a central authority for security?
Because Its easier to convince one person do to something than it is to convince 1000 persons to do the same thing.

  1. How does a decentralized network increase security?
It is based on math and standards. Every transaction must be verified by everyone on the network. There is no central authority.

  2. Why is it dangerous to trust a central authority for security?
This central authority may not always have my best interest in mind. Typically a central authority does what is best for them. Corruption is usually present.

  1. With a decentralised network, the process is achieved and driven by the trust in math and protocol rather than people.
  2. Any central authority can manipulate data risking the privacy of information to be hacked and stolen.
  1. A decentralized network increases security by getting more nodes operating.

  2. If the majority of a network is centralized then information can be manipulated, lost, stolen, or changed. Much like history, religion, and science have done over the centuries.
e.g. King James bible had books selected, altered,or destroyed by a small group of men. Translations from one language to another, over time, changed the stories even more.
