I have just completed 3 basic courses and now starting Ethereum 101
Hey,
I have a question. It’s about the bitcoin model, but it’s based on something that was stated in a lecture about Ethereum:
Ivan said that with Bitcoin it’s possible to track transactions all the way back to when a coin was mined. But how is this possible, given that the information of all previous blocks exist in hash-form only in the latest block? Wouldn’t you have to decrypt the hash in order to get information about old transactions?
Hey @Snow, hope you are well.
each block in bitcoin will have the resulting hash of its process plus the hash of the last block, a chain of blocks related to the hash which is related to the last block.
Although the block is encrypted, is still possible to review the block data without the need of decrypting it, the encryption process its applied to secure the immutability of the block, but the information or data is not encrypted, is available to anyone to verify it.

Hi all,
I have a question about the last video in this section regarding ‘Fungibility’.
Am I right in my understanding being that Ethereum is considered more fungible than Bitcoin because it doesn’t show a history and there for can’t be distinguished from other Ethereum tokens? He used as an example that if a Bitcoin were to show that it was involved in a hack or robbery that it would be blacklisted. Is this just an example of how Bitcoin is essentially non-fungible due to it’s individuality so to say…?
Looking forward to this course after having completed the blockchain and bitcoin 2.0 course!
