Ethereum Advanced

thank you very much for your answer

this school explains everything so well. wife is taking courses through tradition college, its terrible she cant even get the proper reading for the course she has to answer questions too. i had to help her with an assignment about the cold war from my memory because the paper she had to write did not even give her anything to read. Great job guys for your good work and excellent explinations.

That’s very interesting

Will Ethereum ever be totally decentralised from government institutions? I was under the impression that’s why crypto was invented for.

Thank you really enjoying the course so far. Its really taking me out of my comfort zone.

Hi Adrian,
Yes I am! I started looking into crypto when the pandemic hit last march 2020. I have zero experience in this space so I decided to some research. That’s how I found Ivan youtube channel.
What got you into crypto?

Does anyone have a link to the excel sheet with gas prices? Thanks.

Hi everyone, during the sessions a question came to mind.

If BTC wallets contain UTXO’s and ETH wallets use the Account model to perform transactions, which model is more privacy related? Isn’t it possible to track UTXO’s to its original address and that ETH can only track the addresses of sender and receiver? Ivan mentioned BTC is more privacy related but I dont fully understand how. Feel free to share you opinion!

You mean this one?

There is a lesson in the Ethereum course which explain in detail the difference between those 2 models. :face_with_monocle:

I’m not always 100% sure I’m getting a true grip and understanding of the subjects in the course as I’m a complete noob to crypto land. I welcome the critique from fellow students if they see any mistakes I’m making. really enjoying the academy.

Not just transaction fee’s but any action on the Ethereum blockchain in which miners are required to participate in. The more congested the network the higher the fee, also the speed at which that transaction is performed at (DAPP’s like Metamask allow you to select this).
E.g. When you list an NFT for auction you need to pay a gas fee to list it on a DAPP.

I’m no expert but I hope this helps!

The more knowledgeable I become in this ā€œspaceā€, I am gaining more an insight as to how I can apply this information and create something that could be beneficial and a have positive useful application to the Global society. Thank You again for making this course extremely accessible, along with providing explanations that are precise and articulated to the point.

Hello All,

Just had a quick question regarding the EVM.
If the job of the EVM is only to translate the smart contract solidity code to the byte code so that the machine that any single node is running on can interpret it, then what stops someone from writing malicious software to take control of the ethereum network in some way??
Does the EVM check for malicious code as well before converting?

The EVM will verify that the code is harmless before it goes into the network, many nodes will verify the contract and if this one have any malicious code, it will be rejected even before the code is accepted to go into the blockchain (cant deploy a malicious contract).

Me too, I was doing it out of interest and because of trading but now am thinking of taking it further and maybe even learn programming. I too am thinking of how I will create another career that I can do from anywhere and as long as I am able to contribute. I think it is an excellent way for someone to put all of their years of life and work experience together, in a new product or job.

Ivan said that different smart contract can cost more and some can cost less gas.
So, if I buy two different tokens on uniswap at the same time will I pay different gas price for the transactions because these two token has different smart contracts?
Or maybe will I pay the same gas price for the transactions because it depends on the uniswap smartcontract so it is the same smart contract for both transactions - uniswap smart contract?
