Blockchain Crowdsourced Investigation Tip Line

Hi Academy Team Members,

I’m working with a startup that is on the verge of launching an end-to-end tool for investigators to 1) find the digital footprint of a person of interest, and 2) store and organize all case data in one place…but I need your help.

Most of the detectives, private investigators, and police officers we work with are ill-equipped to tackle their daily workload due to:

  1. Inefficient disparate tools.
  2. Too little time (NYPD Detectives have an avg of 1k open cases for ever investigator).
  3. The general public is apprehensive to contribute due to fear of retaliation / lack of anonymity.

COMPANY BACKGROUND:

After years of selling software that solves business needs, I joined FERMATA Discovery because I want to help the good guys get the best tools to combat evil in an ever-expanding digital world. This is software with a higher purpose.

Our flagship product, VIXN, gives investigators full visibility into the digital footprint of a person of interest. It finds all their social media accounts, contact info, civil/criminal history, property records, network, and much more.

HOW IT WORKS:

VIXN is an AI-driven platform that automatically gathers, assembles, analyzes, and visualizes high volumes of information relevant to persons-of-interest and extended networks.

PRIMARY USES:

  1. Identity resolution for litigation and investigation
  2. Exonerate those wrongfully accused
  3. Uncover new info on cold cases
  4. Combat human trafficking

BLOCKCHAIN IDEA:

The idea we’re working with is to create a crowdsourced investigation “tip line” (think America’s Most Wanted), where people can submit info to help investigators solve cases faster. That info might include social media profiles, reddit posts, pictures, contact info, text msgs, first-hand knowledge about the perp, etc…. The community could then up or down-vote the material posted based on relevance to the case and the investigators can then decide which info to incorporate into their investigation.

The key here is we’ll want to make this tip line blockchain based so that contributors can submit info anonymously. If you’ve seen the Netflix Documentary "Don’t F**k With Cats”, you’ll see why this is important. While contributors will be anonymous, we’ll need a way to distribute funds to those who helped in the case of financial rewards for cases solved.

We could also create a VIXN coin to reward users based on their contributions, and reward investigation teams for solving cases.
