Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies

Thank you for you answer, really informative!
So basically Nakamoto solved a lot of problems when inventing bitcoin and blockchain but now it is up to us to build new things and upgrade blockchain technology in order to solve other problems not yet solved, by using his inventions, right?

This is the meaning of open sourche- border-less technology. Somebody solves through programming something and everybody can look at it and evolve it. Look at Linux, Intrenet Protocol, Javascript, Html, now Blockchain and so on. I would say programming and open sourche technologies have something to do aalso with the mentality of the “cyber-punk-geek” community that startet in the 90’. One good book to maybe understand this, is “The Internet of Money” by Andreas Antonopoulos, or follow him up. Ivan has mentioned it on some livestreams of IvanOnTech “Good Morning Crypto” too. Hope to have helped and will be glad to listen on another opinion

That help a lot yes, thank you for your inputs. By the way I have the two volumes of “Internet of Money” and I’m reading the first right now, Andreas is amazing.

Not pseudo anonymous anymore, you know his address and you could track the utxo. But off course you only know this 1 address. And you always need some level of trust to buy online. But in the traditional way, you can buy something online with your credit card and call your bank to stop the payment, while the sender may already shipped the product. With blockchain technology, the transactions is immutable and not reversable.
Every transaction on the blockchain will have a transaction ID that can serve as proof of payment.

How is it not pseudo anonymous anymore? could you expand on that?

Because you know that address where you need to send bitcoin. If I give you a bitcoin address to pay me, you know that this address belongs to me

Thank you for making this and everything you do . This really helps me and gives me something to learn and study that I am truly interested in , blockchain will change the world and we need people who want to really help people running and developing the system. The more people understand the technology, the better. cryptocurrency and blockchain will be used like email , everyone will use it but not everyone will take the time to understand how it works. empower and educate yourself because this technology will drastically change the way finance is handled.

I mean in the toshi times forum itself. Not in kajabe.

If you mean with pseudo anonymous that because of not having to follow Kyc rules, so you don’t know to whom an address belongs then i think you are wright(but this is the magic of anonymity so to say). There is no person with data behind an address(although when you buy bitcoin from an exchange it is tracable until you launder it correctly). But i don’t think that somebody who wants to be paid by you will give you somebodies else address so you can almost be sure the address is his/her. Plus if it is the wrong his/her folt.

Ivan I tried to connect to this link but without any luck. What is it?

Great getting to understand basics of BTC and blockchain. I still feeling it is so abstract. If I want to enter that my pork in your meatballs is bio when it is not, I feel I can write that in the blockchain and everyone must believe me because you don’t know what I did in my slaughter house. Just because it is blockchain one can lie, right?

FunFair is a great example why blockchain is so superior over the conventional network. When you put $10 in a slot and pull the handle you are creating a contract where you bet 10 bucks, into that contract Funfair is agreeing on paying you $100 if you get three cherries. When it happens the contract is completed and the contract will pay you 100 bucks. Online casinos are infamous for keeping big wins to pay it out when it suits them.

This great stuff marsrvr and thank you for sharing. As my university years was pre internet, we never had access to these learning tools to help. It’s a great time to be student the sky is the limit.

The first thing I learned about bitcoin that hit me real hard, is that bitcoins don’t exist!

There is only a ledger of transactions where the first transaction of a “new bitcoin” comes from the act of “mining” that bitcoin. All bitcoins and the addresses containing them are viewable to anyone. Your “key” is only your “spend password” that allows you to create a transaction moving value from an address you own (that already has value) to another address. Your “balance” is simply the net sum of all transactions linked to your address. Brilliant!

Nice, and that bitcoins (utxo’s) don’t move. You can only change batches of utxo’s and change ownership with a script. The more I learn about it, the more genius it becomes :sunglasses:

I suspect there will be less need for accountants and lawyers.

… and many more. e.g. banker, agents, administrative staff, supply chain in any shape and form
Which is pretty cool. This is why I am here:
Learning to improve processes, saving money and making our digital world more secure - and independent / decentralized.
(I mean, it’s not a big surprise by a change & transformation consultant looking for these type of business opportunities)

This lesson was very informative especially when discussing the smart contracts and app. There are many different ways you could program the dapps. The possibilities are endless.

Ivan,

Even though I thought I understand blockchain and Bitcoin technology, your course has given me a lot to think about. I hope one day I get to meet you in person (maybe once a COVID-19 pandemic has been resolved) and to really get some more knowledge out of your head. Thank mate, I’m enjoying this learning for sure!
