Enjoying the material so far. Thanks for that!
This was a great way to establish fundamentals Ivan. I really appreciate your way of teaching and sense of enthusiasm for this space, it only increases mine! If anyone comes across this, I highly recommend The Bitcoin Standard by Saifedean Ammous. I just finished reading the book and it timed well with this course. It helps set the stage on how currency should be among people and humans versus countries/government.
Well, for me is interesting entering this conversation with the current circumstances: BTC and ETH going in price significantly disconnecting their parity from the markets, IMF and several countries announcing loudly their DCs readiness while at the same time nations around the world ease regulations to spend limitlessly, banks reporting loses that have been already made up by stimulus funding and allegations of corruption inside their executives (thatās not new though
), fintech overtaking dramatically the financial ecosystem, global population with uncertainty of where their countries are heading, more and more political corruption brought into the light but silenced by social media platforms, corporations showing who they really serve, a presidential election that will define the faith of the world, and an Elite Group that is still hiding in the shadows while pulling strings (yeap, is not over until those come into the light).
Which possibilities do blockchain and crypto add in the realm of paths that humanity can take in order to thrive?
What is their role in these series of events?
If we can zoom out and add up possibilities, what is the trend in respects of where humans are heading?
I am still in digesting the facts that ConsenSys bought Planetary Resources (an asteroid mining company), that NASA is partnering with companies such as Nokia formalizing the Internet ntwk around the moon, and Paypal entering BTC (do you guys remember that in 2013 they created an initiative called Paypal Galactic, their global currency
?).
Weāre definitely heading West at light speedā¦
everything is great so far!
Iāve started the course 6 days ago and must say that its fantastic. I thought that I knew what a blockchain is and was very wrong. The fact of having headaches after every learning session is a good sign I suppose:)
Maybe itās just the way I learned to learn 35 years ago(high probability that its obsolete)or old German mentality, but I would love a little more feedback on the homework than a like. I wasnāt sure if my work was correct, good or just ok. Also, if I answered the question with the level of detail that maybe was sought after. This feedback could show me how I am doing and if I am on track and in sync with the expected level up to the point.
Iām grateful for any feedback:)
Hey the fact that you got a like means that your answer is correct. Donāt worry if there were anything wrong I would correct you
We have been discussing that there should be another button for answers that are above average, like an applause or something, not just a like. But to write to everyone in detail how their answers are is tough since there are quite a lot of students on the forum but we make out best to help them out and make them feel welcome.
I was thinking that this would be too much work to correct every homework in detail.my idea was maybe a rating but I see unnecessary problems that this would bring with it.
Thank you for your work and feedback!
I love this concept of a map of topics. Would mind sharing which software are you using? (I have checked and couldnāt find it)
Thanks!
Hey guys, I just want to share an idea I have related to blockchain in general. I know itās not something new, but I would love for it be made.
Most parts of the Goverments could easily be smart contracts. With a good incentive to keep all participants honest and transparent, I think we could reach a consensus on ideas and projects the like of which, our world has never seen it like it which.
It may sound crazy, but governments have one purpose, to align our individual selves into living together under the same rules. Well, isnāt bitcoin doing that already??
I know the concept is far from being a complete idea, but I can totally see traceability, transparency and security on government money spending as something I want to have on my country
Cheers!
I have a lot of questions to ask. However, let me start with the basics and I believe I will get my answer as I finish the course. My first question is:
-
In what currency will we be able to transact money? Is it going to be bitcoin or the normal currency that we use nowadays?
-
If a person wants to complete a transaction, how will the other people verify if his transaction is real or not. I mean how will the other people know if he has this amount of money or not.
I think governments are doing a bit more than that, they are responsible to finance the countries infrastructure and education and healthcareā¦
In any case there are projects to handle the company management autonomously called DAOs.
I do like the idea, I suggest you create a new thread with the idea and let other students join you
Iām not sure what you mean. Bitcoin blockchain is specific to transacting Bitcoin. You have projects like Counterparty that allow you to create other tokens on top of Bitcoin.
If the transaction is invalid it will not be accepted by the network.
Hi there, Until there I am still not so convinced about the revolutionnary feature of Blockchain.
I feel like Pascal who bet that God exists because if God exists, oneād better pray it to go to paradize. And if he does not exist you donāt really loose anything.
So here the good point to the blockchain concept I find is that one cannot delete or modifiy information from a ledger. Like in the book 1984 when the governors are re-writting press article from the past in order to control the futur. The consensus thing seems to me a very limited thing because at the end, there will be always processus and humans entering info on the blockchain. Yes people are trying to solve this issue with ORACLES but isnāt it like digging an hole (Blockchain) to fill it again (Oracle) I d like anyone to explain me why I am wrong here. Many people I respect give so much faith into the cryptosphere, there should be something I donāt get. Maybe I juste need to work a bit more on it and get use to its advantages.
PS: The utility I find and agree on is when we are talking of money, currencies, market. But thatās only figures and digital.
Blockchain isnāt for anything, that is for sure and the truth is we are not entirely sure what its capable of. We know its good for transferring value. But as all new technology we are trying out to add other things on it and only time will tell what eventually sticks.
If you have seen the ICO bubble where random companies were trying to put literally everything on the blockchain and somewhere like 90% of these projects are dead now, but not all of them. A great example of a successful ICO is Maker that is trying to revolutionize finance and is the one mostly responsible for the current DeFi craze.
But we keep reading and hearing that:
āBlockchain technology is one of the most innovative and era-defining discoveries of the past centuryā So, we can reasonnably say, that the revolutionary aspect of it, is a bit exagerated? It is not as revolutionnary as internet, right?
Its revolutionizing money which was Bitcoins initial purpose. That thing alone is revolutionary enough on its own because how money was issued and controlled has been the same for at least a few thousand years now.
I recommend you watch Mark Maloneys Hidden secrets of Money series, just donāt fall for his Hashgraph shill
hundred percent agree on that. Revolutionaizing money is already big enough. āgive me the control of the money and ā¦ā
Is anyone else having playback issues on Lesson 3 āPlatforms & Coins?ā It seems to buffer at the third second, and not move beyond that.
I tried watching and worked fine for me. Can you try again?
