Assignment 2: Persuade your CEO to switch from Hyperledger (R3 Corda/Quorum) to Baseline Protocol

Dear Mr. CEO

In our company core I know the three elements that are most important is privacy, permission and performance and Baseline Protocol provides all three demands using the blockchain technology. That means we can create a permissioned network and will be able to decide who, when and how we can access the resources on the network. Some of the key features that Baseline has to offer are the following:

  • Privacy, Permission and Performance
  • Ethereum Mainnet as Middleware
  • Microservices
  • No sensitive data on-chain
  • Tokenization and DeFi
  • Open source

I highly recommend that we look more into the baseline protocol and build on it to expand company solutions. I would love to discuss this further with you, which day would work best Monday morning or Tuesday afternoon? Thank you for your time.

Best Regards,
Worker Bee

To the CEO of BBVA:

After evaluating the company’s recent moves on blockchain technologies, I noticed that since we are talking about transactions, it would be extremely beneficial and it would give an edge to the company to come in contact and implement Baseline Protocol functionalities. It would not only make processes more efficient, but also safer and more reliable. These types of blockchain protocols will make a huge impact in future finance, implementing these technologies as soon as possible will make a huge difference between us and the competition.

Dear CEO,
thanks to put in place for our company our network on Quorum private blockchain.

As features on blockchain growing fast, I would like to focus your attention on a new protocol : Baseline protocol.
This one has been made seamlessly for Enterprise application.

In addition to the fact it keeps advantages of private blockchain, it will enable us to connecting our ERP System Microsoft Dynamics 365 and our CRM Power Apps on blockchain network and ensures the privacy on our off-chain. Here is a great way to improve the exchange of data between our factories.
In the same way, this protocol has the ability to enhance the authentication part in our system with the Zero Knowledge Proof.

Thanks to Baseline, we now use a public blockchain with our private data in a secure manner. We will trust now on network (Ethereum main net) and on persons on this network (ZKP).

Next step will be to use this protocol, for tokenizing our assets. This is a great update compared to Quorum features.

In my opinion, one of the big advantage will be to the ability to make B2C directly on Ethereum network without worrying about some security threats.

Please, take in consideration theses some words to keep up to date our company to the most advanced and leveraging technology.

To the CEO

Our adoption of blockchain technology has delivered benefits to the company. However, to date, we have confined ourselves solely to the use of a private blockchain.

I would like to point out the additional advantages we could receive for our ERP by adopting Baseline Protocol. As you know, our private blockchain offers good solutions for privacy and performance, as well as authentication. It has served us well for B2B operations, but it has limitations.

Baseline Protocol was founded in March 2020. It is governed and managed by the Ethereum OASIS project and funded by the Ethereum Foundation and the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance (EEA).

Baseline Protocol adds the features of a public blockchain, in particular decentraized trust, pay per use, and DeFi compatabiltiy. It is well-suited for transparent as well as private B2C operations. It has fast computation and scalability.

Its suitability for DeFi and asset tokenization opens up the possibility of buiding our own DeFi products on the protocol.

In short, Baseline protocol combines the best features of private and public blockchains.

One of the exciting features of Baseline protocol is Zero-Knowledge Proof. This allows two parties to verify data without revealing the details of the data. I think our company would find this feature quite valuable.

I strongly recommend that we adopt Baseline protocol and look forward to further discussions.

Greetings Director X,
Head of Innovation

With many of our internal processes utilizing blockchain and third party applications for different purposes, we have identified several privacy risks (data included in the memo).
It is highly recommended by our Security Team to consider a solution to increase privacy for our data.

Likely, you are aware that executive management is requesting for more authentication features when managing confidential information especially dealing with our top clients.

Moreover, our Research and Development is starting a new project working on decentralized finance. We can support this initiative by providing the right tools for them.

With the above mentioned sectors of the company with their respective needs, presenting a common solution to accommodate these use cases. This is the Baseline Protocol. The following is the data comparing Hyperledger and Baseline Protocol considering many aspects.

Hoping the said solution will be considered.
With kind regards

Ceo,

The baseline protocol combines the best of both worlds the private and public blockchain into one solution. In that regard, using this through time will save money and time and allow the company to scale without the issues that could come up in future upgrades. Its all here and now.

FedEx is using the Hyperledger Fabric private blockchain to assist with some information distribution.
Their primary aim here is to assist the confidence in having unaltered correct data.

Using Hyperledger for these activities could however, come at a cost.
Given that the nodes being used are all managed from within the company, data is still able to be tampered with, by use of new nodes overrunning the network.

The ability to utilise Baseline would remove this additional attack vector in providing clean data.
Using baseline and the Ethereum public mainnet as middleware, the ability to manipulate data from within the company can be removed.

With Baseline, the validating nodes are outside of the company, and the zero knowledge proof aspect of the network means you can confidently assume the data from the blockchain is indeed correct.

Dear CEO,
I am writing you another memo in regards to the current performance of our system protocols and how the use of Private blockchain technology can improve the efficiency and productivity of the business. I would like to present some foresight information outlining the technological advancements, expanding the use cases and how we can increase business performance and take advantage of these new technologies to increase / improve efficiency. Baseline.io technology currently has impacted enterprise markets for example the from the financial sector, to music, art, real-estate, and supply chain(s). Within Baselines protocol Legacy system there is extreme interoperability, and efficiency regarding business operations. Through the application of the Baseline protocol the business can maintain privacy on or off chain, Network architecture allows for scalable performance, Authenticating all parties, with secure hosting capability, maintaining true decentralization, we can charge participants for the specific services
per clients usage if necessary…? The business will be positioned suitable for Tokenization and DeFi / dApp incorporation suitably for business transparency and privacy. Focusing further forward, implementing this technology here again is another opportunity to spearhead our sector by applying this other type of new era technology rooted interoperable with one another. B2B ; B2C operations can be drastically improved through the Baseline protocol. To you and the entire Executive Board, this protocol “articulation” can institute a positive change to the systems and services we deliver to benefit our customers and employees.

Thank you, Sincerely

Solomon

Subject: Switching to Baseline Protocol

With ever-changing requirements and complexity of state management increasing in the blockchain world, I believe us switching to Baseline Protocol would be a far more efficient way of referencing data among our partners. This company has already begun the quest for private blockchain integration, but Baseline Protocol provides a much smoother integration for the KYC/fund transfer silos we are trying to connect. Baselining us and our partners ERP’s with ease is just one aspect that this protocol could help us improve. Some more micro service benefits of this protocol include:

  • More Secure Messaging Services
  • Baseline API
  • Zero Knowledge Proofs
  • Queue System

The requirements of us and our partners can be easily met with a streamlined service like the Baseline Protocol; everything is easily integrated and user friendly to make business much more effective overall. Our privacy will also be protected in a permissioned channel, where encryption and security are paramount amongst progressive conversations. The new era of blockchain integration and its benefits have been overlooked due to its complexity and infancy. Baseline can help us smooth-out this complexity in management, however, with easy messaging and review of KYC/fund transfers in a more personalized blockchain service. Every record is kept off chain, and there’s no problem with scalability in Baseline. If we can implement this protocol, we can surely outpace the competition in the new world of blockchain integration, and reap some greatly streamlined benefits for business performance.

As we are planning to intergrate our system onto the Blockchain, my sugestion would be to use the Baseline Protol for our intergration.

This protocol built on top Ethereum, is a public blockchain network, is scalable making it suitable for our business to expand without the need
for hardware upgrades to run our smart contracts and still keep our client details confidential.

There are details in my initial proposal on Baseline, however it offers privacy when needed, which will be imperative when it comes to our clients.

Dear CEO
subject: maintain prices and employment. during recession - its. possible
its a hard topic but important to evaluate in tough market conditions and our team has to propose some actions to make; right now we can increase efficiency by building an inherent trust with our clients CRM and our Enterprise relationships ERM; we have noticed that some of our delays are related to manual data lookups after a change in the system has happened, causing lot of write-offs, overpaying and slow inventory turnover; we have identified the opportunity with zero-knowledge feature with baseline blockchain that will allow with our clients or business relationship peers exchange trusted encrypted data without disclosing confidential information with a single source of proof; this will allow trusted transactions between our peers without human intervention and immutable data.
Right now the most advance solution is Baseline Protocol ; however we should pressure hyperledger team to include Indy library into our Besu product for minimal impact. Nevertheless, our second option is to keep our Hyperledger with Baseline Protocol Commitment Manager

Hi Chad,

As we’ve now been utilising blockchain within the organisation for the last 18 months, HyperLedger has proven to be the perfect platform on which to make this transition, however we’re now in a new phase of development and can benefit from the shift to Baseline due to the below reasons;

  • We can benefit from operating in a space between public & private blockchains through Baseline and ensure not every element of our business is public or private and thus have the benefit of choosing what information we wish to disclose and to whom. Transparency for our B2C customers & Privacy for our B2B customers.

  • Streamline our expenditure through the Pay-per-Use system and reallocate those funds to developing a tokenisation element within the decentralised space of the business and allow for a new revenue stream to increase our bottomline.

When you have a moment, let’s setup a meeting and we can delve into the intricacies of the technology and put a plan to move forward, in place.

Thanks,
Chad

Dear CEO,

Recently I wrote to you about the advantages and possibilites for transitioning certain systems to a blockchain based system. Now I have even more exciting news as I found a project that might be the right solution for our needs.
The Project is named Baseline protocol by unibright and brings the advantages from private blockchains and public blockchains into one system running on the EVM.
While some information is out into a an ethereum smart contract, there is also an amount of privacy which is lacking in public blockchains. Furthermore there is the possibility to attach services as needed. I am sure you will find the solution provided here quite interetsing. Please let me know when you have time to discuss this topic further.
Kind regards,
Paul

Dear CEO,

I am writing to recommend that we consider switching from Hyperledger to the Baseline Protocol for our blockchain needs. While Hyperledger has served us well in the past, I believe that the Baseline Protocol offers several significant advantages that make it a better fit for our current and future needs.

First and foremost, the Baseline Protocol is designed specifically for enterprise use cases. It is built on top of Ethereum, which is the leading smart contract platform, and integrates with popular enterprise tools such as Microsoft Azure and GitHub. This makes it easier for our team to use and integrate with our existing systems.

In addition, the Baseline Protocol is designed to be highly scalable, with the ability to handle thousands of transactions per second. This is critical for our organization as we continue to grow and expand our use of blockchain technology.

Another key advantage of the Baseline Protocol is its focus on privacy and security. It uses advanced cryptographic techniques to ensure that sensitive data is kept secure, and it also allows for selective disclosure of information to only those parties who need it. This is particularly important in today’s increasingly regulated environment.

Overall, I believe that the Baseline Protocol offers a strong combination of enterprise-grade features, scalability, and security. I believe that switching to it would be a smart move for our organization, and I hope that you will consider it as a potential option.

Dear CTO,
Following up with our project, I would like to point out that using Baseline Protocol we can integrate our own IT system with a public blockchain, while maintaining all our required privacy issues. We can harvest the immutability, decentralization and transparency of a public blockchain, and at the same time keep all our information safe and at the disposal of parties of interest that can be predetermined.

Dear CEO

I’m writing to discuss the benefits of switching from Hyperledger to the Baseline Protocol at XYZ Pty and how this can benefit the company blockchain needs and provide a competitive advantage. The Baseline Protocol has been under development by companies like EY, Microsoft, ConsenSys, Unibright, Provide, Splunk and others in the open source community since 2019.

The Baseline Protocol will help XYZ Pty ensure data consistency from one database to another to help streamline business and reduce instances of disputes related to data discrepancies. For example, the Baseline Protocol can be used to help ensure that a vendor’s data matches a merchant’s data in terms of what was purchased, price, when it was shipped, etc.

By XYZ Pty implementing the Baseline Protocol with their counterparties (partners, suppliers, buyers) it will help ensure important documents like invoices are verified, and that buyer and supplier information are consistent. This drastically reduces the risk of data discrepancies across systems that could result in time and money loss. If records are baselined, the probability of disputes or repudiation drops dramatically, as there is a clear, identical data record available to all parties.

Furthermore, the Baseline Protocol offers a high level of security. When using the protocol, sensitive data is restricted to the company’s internal storage place, all parties involved are required to use zero-knowledge proofs, and data is only exchanged in an encrypted, peer-to-peer fashion. In this way, the Baseline Protocol delivers a reliable, secure way to exchange information without revealing anything sensitive or risking costly data leaks.

In conclusion, the Baseline Protocol is highly secure, scalable and will enable XYZ Pty to confidentially collaborate between enterprises without sharing sensitive data on-chain. This in turn will provide a competitive advantage over other business’ in the industry.

By implementing The Baseline Protocol the company would get a combination of the best suited features of both private and public blockchains which would better serve company needs.

  • Privacy on- and off-chain with transactions visible only to defined parties
  • Fast and scalable privacy computation
  • High performance - large number of transactions processed quickly and securely
  • Transparency focused B2C scenarios - e.g. customers’ track and trace on the blockchain
  • Privacy focused B2C scenarios - e.g.selected parties allowed in the company network

Hi,

I am writing because I believe that to take our organization to the next stage of expansion and rip the benefits that are promised by blockchain we need to pivot our approach away from working on Hyperledger with IBM.

The TRADELENS project was very successful, initially that is. We didn’t however succeed in making our competitors work with us on what could be a boon for the entire sector. Because the implementation is private and the entire protocol is based on what we developed with IBM, we couldn’t gain the trust of others.

A blockchain, a decentralized protocol, for our sector, cannot be piggy backed by one of the “market leaders” in tech. Connecting to Tradelens, means, for SAP, giving a formidable competitive edge to a competitor they have worked hard to replace and still hope to completely shut down in the foreseeable future.

In addition, as we have proven by shutting it down, a private blockchain is as strong as the will of some of the founding members. Couple that with the fact that we operate in a volatile market where volatility is a given, you understand why we failed.

I believe that using a public, open source protocol, that plugs into the existing software deployed at our competitors (and in house), backed by a public mainnet, gives all the promises we were missing: nobody in particular benefits, just the network.

As for the needs of a private blockchain, Baseline meets them all, promising Privacy, permissioned transactions and even implementation flexibility.
