Propose a change you could make to one of your habits, that would reduce your time preference from high (instant gratification) to low (delayed gratification) time preference. It could relate to any aspect of your life (financial, diet, exercise, relationships or education).
i could spend more time studying on this course and play less video games as video games provide no lasting value where knowledge makes you smarter

Try to buy everything with cash. That will make me think and visibly looking at money make me save more. When we use credit card sometime we don’t even realize how much we have spend , until the credit card bill shows up end of the month

Go to bed at the proper time so you get the right amount of sleep to get through the next day with the most energy possible.

My area will be diet. I need to control my instant gratification for unhealthy food and switch to healthier options. I also need to control my impulses to splurge and binge on snacks and big ticket items. Thanks for providing us the space to share our intention to change for the better.

Instead of drinking 2 1/2 liters (black) coffee a day - well, i started avoiding caps for months => time and money decreased spendings
… I could drink only 2 liters a day.

But i finally widely prefer discuss with best friends and this half liter more coffee, than invite or receive negative people and serve them caps coffee cups - too much expensive expenses for pure loss.

Like so often in life: less is more. Better friends and more liter coffee time with them!

I do first that thing of my first choice.”

It is an example. Words and over all the ones you say to yourself make or break what comes (or not) to you. Be very careful with them.

  1. Video games is an activity that is inherently based on immediate gratification. Playing video games less will help my high time preference.

Avoid the instant gratification of unhealthy food and replace it with healthier food will be better for both overall wellbeing, efficiency and energy levels.

I sleep too much. If I get tired, I go to sleep. On a large scale that’s fine but on a smaller scale I should push through. If it’s bedtime it’s bedtime, but there are many instances where I could push through and accomplish something versus just enjoying a nap.

Setting a budget for normal household expenses. Would require firstly totaling up household expenses then find ways to increase savings afterwards

I should resume my exercising such as doing Taiji or walking at least 30 mins each day, so I will keep myself healthier. It’s been stressful in the past 5 months and I’ve felt depressed recently. Exercising will definitely enhance my immune system, which keeps me away from hospital during this pandemic crisis.

Stop purchasing what is not necessary because i have the money but keep for when something necessary shows.

Study in my leisure time instead discussing with friends i dont know on facebook

If I sent myself to bed earlier I would be way more productive and probably nicer to be around.

I am currently trying to drink less coffee - each day only 1 cup in the morning. At the beginning it was very hard to not have a second or third cup during the day and I felt a little sleepy, but over the time my body will acclimate and there will be no sleepyness in the afternoon.

I could start doing exercise in the living room and start running every morning with my dog. I also feel a great example is this course.

Change the way you transport by not waiting for a bus if it has more minutes wait time then you need to get to the next stop. It will eventually help you with more physical activity and you will see that it is a lot easier to walk around in the city then it might seem at a glance.

This can apply to anyone and any place, but on different scales. This helped me to change the perspective what on how more pleasant just walking around can be, without worrying about time.

Setting up a strict schedule of completing tasks. Between work, the blockchain academy, YouTube channel, setting up to get out of the military in May of next year and finishing projects on my house it will definitely help 100%. This whole no gyms got to me which decreased my will power. No excuses…I could have worked out outside…not the same though. Now that the gym is back in my life and my willpower has returned fullspeed it is time to get it together and make a schedule on a whiteboard. Days of the week that are allocated for certain tasks and a time amount set for each. Looks like I am getting a whiteboard when I wake up… hmm… This course is beginning to reaaalllly get my focus on point as well… The will power is there and with this added scheduling comes more focus.
