A// as a child and now as a adult a common barter transaction that maybe other people also do is with the cards or the stickers of the world soccer cup that you have to paste the sticker or the card of each player and for exmple the most “valuable” card where the best soccer player as messi cristiano and to exchange with other person “party” that player you will need to give him like 5 or 6 conventional players only for 1 card it was and it is obviously unfair but it was the price of having the best players card.

There was a time in school where letter paper and stickers collection was a trend, so I remember exchanging those with others.
Considered fair because was mutual interest, agreed on personal preferences.

Weird I can’t think immediately of a more significant barter, which I’m pretty sure I’ve done in travells… money experience is in fact very deep even in memory.

As a young kid, I can remember being at the lunch table in grade school and trading my turkey sandwich for a snack that my friend had (and I wanted more than that sandwich). The sandwich and the snack were the two items, and it was a relatively fair trade…

As a child it was very common to exchange socer cards usually during football worl cup. Exchange was 1 for 1 for most of the cards but for the favorite teams or players the exchange was couple of cards for 1 favorite card. I remeber the card with highest value was the card number one on the album.
It was fair exchange as everyone was happy to engage in that form of trade.

The two items in the barter transaction were time consuming services. It worked out well.

I remember very well that as a child I used to exchange my sweets for marbles. I think the exchange was fair because sweets were readily available while marbles were more difficult to find. So for three sweets you got one marble. the economy was good when both parties accepted the exchange. Children know how to simplify economic problems.

An example for me as a kid was bartering with Pokemon cards, I was obsessed with Jigglypuff which wasent a very popular in demand card…I found someone who had this card and I traded them my holigraphic Mewtwo card which is 100 times better ( and alot more money now!) than a jigglypuff card.

It was not a fair exchange, because I traded a card that was far more valuable than I should have traded… any pokemon fans would understand this horrible trade I did lol

This was excayly what I thought about as well, glad someone was thinking the same too! lol I did a dumb trade…traded my 1st edition metwto card for a jigglypuff lol

Pogs were the best! with the smelly slamers…the good ol 90s lol

Halloween as a child was a barter system. We would sit down and trade Twix for a three musketeers. the system was only fair when both party wanted the other item with equal desire.

As an adult I give my time in exchange for an income/compensation/salary from a principal/employer.

The 2 times in this barter transaction is time and money.

As time has progressed however the exchange has become an uneven/unfair exchange due to rising costs, the inhumane amount of time we have to give in exchange for little value but most importantly the money we are earning is losing its value.

Baseball cleats
Baseball glove

It was a fair trade because the glove was something I needed and I could no longer wear the cleats and it was something the other party was in need of.

When young I traded hockey cards with others. If they were unsure of the trade value I would sweeten the deal and include the cardboard tasting gum that was included with the cards. I didn’t always think the trade was fair but I must have wanted a players card enough to allow the deal / trade to go through.
Also trading some furniture that we no longer wanted to friends for their helping us move.

When I was a child i usually bartered my chipi taps for another one´s for more power or other features. it was funny

I remember bartering glass marbles. When we got fed up with ours we would exchange them among ourselves for some with different pattern.
It was worth it for both sides because everyone of us got ‘new’ marbles to play and admire their beautiful patterns.
This was the beginning of the 90s and we sometimes also bartered hand held games which were 1 game play only  I exchanged my Tom’s Adventure (198x Sunwing)
for ‘Formula 1’ handheld game with a friend after we both got over our games. So again good barter because we both got new games.

As a child, I remember trading 1 valuable yugioh card for 3 cards that equalled the same value.
I remeber another situation that involved bartering was trading my hot lunch that i got from the school for one of my friends cold lunch from home. I thought it was a fair exchange because i needed what i traded for at the time that the trade occurred.

One of my first barter transactions was exchanging skateboard wheels with a fellow skater. The wheels I had were better for speed skating, and the ones I wanted were smaller, harder and better for tricks and street style skating. The swop seemed fair, it was swopping wheels for wheels, but it was the value that each of us attached to out own wheels and what we wanted from the barter.
