1.) Tari is connected to Monero by being a merge mined protocol built on top of the Monero chain. It’s main focus is on digital assets while still maintaining the privacy basis Monero has already established (as well as an infusion of Monero’s community members).
2.) “Digital assets” are things people can buy or earn but exist entirely in digital form for their lifecycle. Digital assets are related to “DRM” by being always accessible to a person who has bought or earned them, and Tari is aiming to do this in a more decentralized way. The example that Spagni gave when it came to traditional DRM was Microsoft books; over time, books people once bought using using this platform became unaccessible online due to its discontinuation.
3.) Tari is a “privacy trojan horse”, meaning it can “trick” people into using the privacy-enhancing tools that Monero provides. Tari provides a bridge to the Monero ecosystem through user earning/buying of digital assets.
4.) The incentive for copyright holders to use Tari is that they can push pro-privacy regulation from the extra money made through the use of the protocol. Tari shares much of the Monero core maintainers - including fluffypony - and involves a lot of the Monero community. This also includes much of the online culture surrounding Monero, such as the intentional lack of price discussion.
Tari also shares Monero’s security model and shares many of the same principles, such as privacy-first atomic swaps between Monero and Tari.

The Tari Labs company also funds much of the Monero ecosystem.

The trojan horse aspect of this comes in having privacy as a sidenote, whilst pushing other features which are more exciting for the common person. These features are ones that benefit companies and make them lobby for Tari ecosystem features, which also have the aspect of privacy.

They are able to capture benefits of on-chain perks, such as trade commissions - which don’t typically exist in the legacy world.

These rights are typically permanent, which is in the interests of the asset creator.
