Hello Everyone!!
Ivan & Filip keep up the great work.
Thanks for all the work your team does to make this interesting, fun and easy to grasp. I’m a 56 year old who has been doing the same thing for 40-years. (I can use a change) I am tryin to create a career in Ethereum or DeFi - It is great that everyone is supportive & friendly.
I love the 2 satoshis response!!!
yesss…I’m right behind in age…good to see other people around my age interested in crypto!!
So after the learning basics of Ethereum does it make you more or less likely to invest in the ERC20 tokens due to their application of protocols on the network. For example, Ethereum’s biggest problem is scalability. So a coin like Matic Network(Polygon) helps to reduce the gas fees, how do you feel about Matic?
Hey @Samuel1, hope you are great.
I’ve been testing some L2 solutions like matic (polygon), I do like the idea a lot, gas fees are basically free or are payed in the L2 native token, from my perspective, this puts Ethereum in a better position in terms of scaling, because Ether token is used in a more “indurstrial” way, because instead of each user pay their gas fees per transaction, an L2 solution can have some of the functionalities (defi, dexes, LP, staking, etc…) and all user transactions can be batch to be payed on Ethereum, also EIP1559 is coming soon, so in my opinion: Ethereum is just about the get even better than what we have seen right now

What is Ethereum’s future plans on tackling scalability, interoperability and sustainability.
I support that. I am not there to understand the different layer 2 solution mechanism and all the pros and cons that are associated with those.
What I don’t like about the layer 2 solutions is that you create an environment in another environment. While everything within Polygon works perfectly it is kind of a sandbox on ETH. If I want to interact with the ETH chain, I need to leave the Polygon environment, which costs the same gas fees but additionally it’ll take much longer than a regular ETH transaction.
Furthermore there is no interoperability possible, is there? The way I see it, for special use cases, like gaming, it might be helpful but it looks just like a quick fix.

Thank you for your contributions to our discussion. Your question is excellent in my opinion. Great feedback posts from our peers as well. Thank You.
Best Regards
Damn right bro
Moving along quitely
I think I have a pretty good understanding so far. I can’t wait to learn more!!
Congrats to us all! I’m older and lovin’ crypto!
My thoughts exactly. If Ethereum cannot scale properly people will continue to seek solutions on other chains.
“Knowledge is power!” I can now make more informed decisions. Keep teaching and I’ll keep learning.
Thank you for stating the layers applied to Ethereum clearly. Ethereum’s layer development with is rolling out. Personally I would be considering security risks especially in terms of long term smart contracts/storage on the blockchain opportunities. Another consideration I think of often is what will the crypto space look like after 2021 and the impact all of these layers on Ethereum.

That’s awesome that you’re learning and jumping in. Me too! Love this program so different to the education I received as a kid.
So Awesome so far! Learning Loads!!!
I just started Ethereum 101. Now I am reviewing the links in the discussion thread. Are we supposed to participate in the Codewars.com? I have not yet learned Javascript or Solidity, or any other of the languages. Should I do the Codewars after taking Javascript 101? All links are very interesting. Codewars looks like fun.
