I have not learned enough to add to this discussion regarding the addition of other projects to overview
Hi @amadeobrands - Iām on the DeFi 101, great course so far, thank you. One project for the insurance part that looks interesting as well: https://unslashed.finance/ Do you know them, what is your take?
Hi All,
Great to join this thread!
I can see there is a flurry of new defi projects that are interesting and extremely creative. However my experience so far is that the fact that the price of ETH is so high (the course examples were done at a very low value of eth) makes it extremely expensive to operate with these platforms due to gas fees unless we are talking about thousands of dollars.
Curious if there is a way around this situation (perhaps waiting for a specific time of day to operate/transact)?
If there is a different thread where this can be discussed happy to jump on.
Thanks to all!

I found a āDeFinerā on ādefipulse.comā which is another smart contract lender. It does not appear to be on your Defi Ecosystem overview. I honestly have no idea how it is different from other smart contract lenders.
At this point in my education, I donāt think Iām going to use most or any of the tools discussed. Anything built out of crypto legos requires trust in the technology of each individual lego, so that the more complicated the thing being built, the more opportunity there is for a failure.
I would guess that the reason these decentralized lending platforms can give you 8% interest is because the borrowers are using their money to buy things like bitcoin and ethereum. The volatility and consistent increase in value of these assets makes it extremely easy to make more than 8% by trading/hodling them, unless youāre in a bear market. I would rather just trade & hodl these things myself and earn more than 8% profit in a year, than add the extra risk and complexity of trusting more crypto legos so that I can get an inferior reward.
Hello Chris,
Iām Robert living in Belgium.
I have seen you listed OptionROOM.
I bought some ROOM on Friday then dumped them early today seeing the market was not reacting, at the same time there is very little volume
Iām new in cryto, started 1 month ago. So far for the coin roll-outs I have seen price has moved a lot faster. Price is -25% in 24 hours now at $ 2.29 (utc +1, 10:30 PM)
Do you think ROOM is a good buy ?
I understand the fundamentals are good (part of DOT) but the way ROOM is rolling out looks strange.
My OS is too old and Brave locked me out. My Metamask with the ETH on it is there.
Apple says I cannot upgrade. Are my choices: a new computer and reseed the wallet or open another browser download Metamask and reseed the wallet? Any other ways to get my ETH off that wallet?
Thanks.
John
You missed Chainlink
I think layer 2 have solutions for gas fees. But I dont know much about the topic and how to use it. I
m very interested too.
Dumb question of the day.
If you look at a service like RadarRelay ( https://relay.radar.tech/about ), for example, how do they earn revenue to maintain the website?
It took a lot of expense to get the devs and UX to build the product. So, where does their revenue come from to keep the operation going?
Are they getting a cut of the trade? Are they getting a small cut of the interest earned or interest paid?
did you try on chrome?
I cant wait for Superfarm. for me all these platforms like Polkastarter or DUck Dao are also very nice. So many exciting things to discover.
Amadeo: laying my limited knowledge bare here but here goes. I had listened to a brief summary on Coin Bureau about two fairly new (not brand new) alt coins : the Thor based Rune and also Kussama (KSM). I wondered if you have any thoughts on these? I wanted to buy a small amount of Rune but canāt figure out how to find it on an exchange. I already have a Binance.US account but donāt see Rune as a trading option on Binance. What DeFi exchange might I sign up with to trade and will this DeFI exchange let me start by importing ETH from my MetaMask wallet to trade for Rune
? Thanks so much for any help and input on these coins / protocols, as well. Ken

Problem they fix? It is a DEX that swaps BEP-20 tokens. It also trade against a liquidity pool, instead of an order book, which makes price discovery easier.

PancakeSwap is interesting into the DeFi environment, due to the following reasons (as of Feb 9th, 2021):
- It is implemented into the Binance Smart Chain, instead of Ethereum
- It has 17k DAU, 48k WAU (1st place overall), performing 33.6 daily transactions, 263k weekly transactions
- It has $773M of balance (6th place overall, 1st place in the BSC), and it is in the 7th place of trading volume (3rd place on BSC)
- Its governance token went 995% in the last month.
I think that the next Defi Ecosystem that will be huge, it has to solve the fees problem that those on ETH have. Glitch is a promising one.
Hi Robert, sorry it took me so long to get back to you! Nice to meet you, hope you are doing well.
Regarding OptionRoom (ROOM)ā¦its an brand new project with a small market cap so dramatic price fluctuations are the norm. Anytime a new token gets released, it usually shoots to the moon the first few days/week, then it corrects, drops in price and stabilizes. ROOM has some interesting things going for it, and Polkastarter projects are usually pretty solid. That being saidā¦I think there are many projects that are better buys than ROOM. The project has a lot of potential, but Iām waiting to see what they roll out next, what their Roadmap displays, over the next few weeks.
I had 4 tokens narrowed down to invest in (RAMP, ENJ, ROOM and CHSB), and I chose RAMP today. Iāll keep an eye on ROOM over the coming weeks/month.
If you are new to cryptoā¦welcome!!! It will change your life for the better!! Here are a few YouTube channels that have really helped me out tremendously when it comes to alt-coins and learning how to identify new projects (EllioTradesCrypto, AltcoinDaily, Ivan on Tech and The Martini Guy).
Check out those tokens, and YouTube channels, I hope it helps!
Stay in touch Robert, all the best to you!

I would like to know what you think of it
Hello Chris,
Since my first message I decided to sell my ROOM seeing the price was not moving. Itās part of Polkadot so it might pump nicely in the future. The most recent coins i bought are Aleph, Ocean, Txl, World, Yfi. I donāt know if they are still worth buying, meaning the pump now makes them less attractive.
As I understand Tixl has strong fundamentals. I believe Ellio or Ivan mentioned Tixl as low market cap (30 m$) with good fundamentals and potential.
I bought the other coins as potentially pump coins without doing my DYOR. Quite often there is no time for that.
Also have look at Decentr (DEC).
Thanks for the welcome. Letās keep in touch. Robert
So if we put e.g. ETH in collateral for borrowing and if a price of ETH drops that will cause dropping below 150% of required collateral thatās mean that a loan will be undercollateralized or āin liquidationā?
Avalanche is a new Defi project which could be included.
