DeFi Ecosystem - Discussion

It is difficult to know where to start with such a vast range services in finance. I think giving one for a variety of project type categories is a good way to approach it:

Payments : OmiseGO – which is by no means a new project – offers instant peer-to-peer transactions that enable financial institutions to do real-time transactions. It can work worldwide across asset classes, geographies, and applications.

StableCoins : Reserve is very interesting, backed by a small number of collateral tokens, each of which are tokenised dollars. Frictionless cross-border payments and a great way to store money in countries like Venezuela.

Investment : Betoken is a Crowd-powered asset management protocol that lets you automate your investment. Furthermore, its key features, including active management, user-owned, user-governed, full collateralization, and no fees.

Liquidity and Exchanges : Airswap offers peer-to-peer trading on the Ethereum network. Moreover, it is easy to use with key features such as no fees, no deposits, no sign-ups, secure, intuitive, and liquid.

Lending and Credit : SALT is a lending platform that provides comprehensive coverage, collateral wallets, loan health, and more. Furthermore, it offers loans backed by XRP, Dash, Dogecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Pax Gold, Crypto, Ether, and Bitcoin.

Prediciton Markets : Bodhi is an interesting decentralized prediction market solution. It offers windows, Mac, and Linux desktop applications. It also comes with a web version.

Insurance : Etherisc is a decentralized insurance protocol that enables businesses and developers to build insurance products. Looks very cool and something in this line has huge potential, getting the insurance industry onto a blockchain would inject huge amounts of money into the DeFi space.

Was looking at projects and came across this which peaked my interest and did not appear to be on the Overview list.

Akropolis

@amadeobrands thanks a lot for all the information you provide

By the way , https://antoncoding.github.io/opyn-liquidator/ is not working. Is there any alternative URL we could use for the same?

thanks a lot

Hola, Defi wow i feel like i discovered a new world jajajjaj , i think there are too many option and i am like a kid in a toy store jajaja , well i feel it´s too soon and i am to new to say what could be the next great defi project , i will continue to discover more about defi apps and i saw i few ones and if you want check this :

app.kava.io

looks interesting wth rosk like all the defi apps but seems intesting .

I will continue wth the course ,gracias!!!

Great lesson on Defi!

So After reviewing the Defi Ecosystem overview I didn’t notice any additional security infrastructure and Auditing apart from their own in-house ones. With that said, I came across a new token that just came out on 10/27/20 called Certik (CTK) which I ended up investing in simply because of it fundamentals and because its backed by Binance. Currently you can buy or Farm it temporarily.

Certik (CTK) long story short is like an Anti-hacker software for crypto companies/exchanges. Projects like Band Protocol and Aave and many more have already been audited. Please see this youtube video as I explain further about Certik. https://youtu.be/a6lINHpvH3A

I believe that in order for us to reach 100% trust-less we need as many security layers as possible and Certik would be the very first heavy heavy layer of defense.

Ey Dutch
just my 2 cents here. So Mooniswap its an AMM (automated money maker) the same as uniswap is , so YES it works on Ethereum. Trying to improve in terms of liquidity pool earnings and less fees for the users.

Chi token is used to pay less transaction fees when using 1inch Exchange (instead of using Gas). In order to do this , you can buy Chi token on 1inch and enable it to use during your transactions.

Hi @amadeobrands
There is a new DEFI project called Unilend, their main idea is to open the DEFI market to all altcoins.
As you know actual Dexes do not allow all the altcoins to be used as collateral, Unilend would make that possible. I think it is an interesting project that could contribute to improving the DEFI ecosystem.

Hyprr, a descentralized social media that has its own coin and will have its own blockchain.

Oh My Dai would nice to include. Writing and selling put options on chain seems interesting.

YfDai sounds quite interesting. yfdai.finance

So many DeFi projects going on…

On Ethereum:

  • there is one missing project in your list I find particularly interesting: Alpha Homora which is a leveraged yield farming protocol. You can borrow ETH to increase your Liquidity position on Uniswap for instance.
  • Linear Finance also is not on Mainnet yet, but sounds promising. It’s for trading synthetic assets.
  • I am quite surprised Curve is not yet in your list also…
  • REN to me is more a token bridge protocol than a DEX (like Wrapped BTC). They’re building a DEX (Chaos), but I don’t think it is ready yet.
  • Quickswap on Matic layer-2
  • Honeyswap on xDai layer-2

Then they are many interesting projects on the Binance Smart Chain such as BSCSwap and PancakeSwap.

Kava has launched the Hard protocol also.

I can give you a list for Tron as well, but this will not help with my rating on this forum…

Dextools and Parsiq tools should definitely be considered as they add value to the defi lego blocks as connectors, integrators, and for data insights.

This is a rapidly growing space since you made this course. 900M to 12.6B as of this post for a 12x growth factor in 8 months. An index fund/token that replicated that overall growth would have been super. [Maybe there is one]

MantraDao[OM] is of interest for its built-in community and comprehensive defi scope. https://mantradao.com/ - Posted as well by @raul782
and
Unicrypt [UNC, UNCX, UNCL] which seeks to add security to the defi space by verifying swap pairings using their browser to ensure that folks are swapping with a legitimate token/projects. https://www.unicrypt.network/

Hi Mr Brands,

Thank you so much for your awesome lectures! You’re great
Super excited to dive deeper into DeFi ecosystem.

Lost my bullrun gains on this one through not doing my own reseach properly. If i’d looked at it from this perspective I would have stayed well clear. DYOR everyone!

Comments: Lots of FUD in the past month. Unilayer.app website down last few days and, Founder @BitcoinGeo has a really bad reputation on CT. Several cases of project abandon, $GHOST is another example, that website is blocked by google aswell.

Here’s a couple more projects he was involved in, better stay away from those too everyone: $TLAND $DART $VSF $ZEUS

P.S I added a risk category seems like we neeed it!
