DeFi Ecosystem - Discussion

Atomic Loans bring Defi to Bitcoin. They are non-custodial bitcoin backed loans.

You make total sense. Bravo. People need to look at the real world.

My other issue with pegging stable-coins to the dollar is that the (US) dollar itself is not exactly stable. Most people who pay attention know where the dollar is heading long-term - just look at its purchasing power since the introduction of the Federal Reserve, and its prospects are not getting any better.

Could there be something better to peg stable coins to? I know the gold market is manipulated, but so are all fiat currencies (in the UK we call it Quantative Easing and adjusting the interest rate, but it is still manipulation).

Using a basket of currencies probably won’t work either, as all the contributing currencies will be manipulated, but that could be more stable because if one currency dropped, another would probably rise as a result. But eventually they will all go down.

I believe these issues need to be thought through before we can hope for widespread adoption of DeFi. You summed-up DAI and DeFi generally, when you stated ā€œā€¦layers on top of the shaky foundations.ā€

Well played Mate.

This is the same exact sentiment I hold. It’s like, hey, crypto is too volatile and unstable, let’s jump back on the bandwagon of USD, the same exact asset we were trying to leave in the first place with cryptocurrencies! It’s like jumping from the fire back into the pan then right back into the fire.

Hahaha! Would anyone else like to explain why pegging to the crumbling USD makes sense?

Just deposited some crypto into BlockFi. From what I’ve seen and read, Gemini custody seems very good, but would like to know your thoughts.

I find the Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAO) fascinating!
Aragon - Creates a global company with no intermediary - transparent with no bureaucracy in 5 minutes!

Colony - Suite of smart contracts that provide the framework of an organization’s essential functions - ownership, structure, authority,
Tools to Organize and Incentivize Collaborators, Contributors, and Communities.

DAO Stack - The stack can be used to build organizations for any kind of collective work, and it also contains tools to link these organizations together, so as the network grows, all its member organizations are strengthened.
Organizations built on DAOstack belong in a new category of structure called DAOs: Decentralized Autonomous Organizations. DAOs are organizations that run on peer-to-peer software backbones and empower groups of people to make non-hierarchical decisions about shared resources, like funds. Those working on DAOstack believe these structures have the potential to change the world, by making collaboration radically more accessible, direct, and scalable.

@amadeobrands Question1: when I’m connected to metamask, how do I change the address when connecting to different dapps!

Ex: let’s assume, I have 1 eth in Account 1 and 3 eth in account 2 in the wallet. I want to connect with account 2 when connecting with let’s say DyDx. How does one do that?

In my case all my addresses are empty and yet only account is used to connect with dapps tho I would want to connect my other account!

Question 2:
Dai giveaway assignment
I am having similar trouble connecting as @simplyprado //I am not able to connect metamask through oasis. Getting the alert ā€œError: browser ethereum provider and URL network param do not matchā€ //

I’m not sure how to change the network though I change the selection dropdown list of my metamask.
How do you change that?

Thanks in advance!

hi Amadeo, thanks for ALL, the hard work, you are putting in to this space…
I am Very Grateful…!

Well,we know how big security is in the Blockchain, I found this, Ā“ Prover Technology for checking security rules, “…!?

Certora Prover, can uncover tricky re-entrancy bugs, like it found on the leading defi platform Synthetix.

This is all still very new to me and I’m not a hundred percent certain about what I’m looking at but after checking and hearing one of these along the grapevine - I have added these DeFi projects/initiatives that I found interesting:

https://defiprime.com/ - this is where I found links and info on new DeFi projects.

https://eosauthority.com/rex - seemed to be an exchange that allowed lending, borrowing and trading with EOS tokens?

https://atomic.loans/ - have heard this mentioned by Ivan through his daily videos and found it to be an interesting a straightforward concept - looked incredibly easy to use and something I would consider with more research - because even if you need liquidity, who wants to sell their BTC right??!!!

Found this interesting in terms of defi as lego blocks, this is another layer/block that is advancing, changing and scaling the defi space

Agreed BlockFi seems legit
But it is still CeFi not DeFi so there is more risk in it them something like Compound or Maker DAO.

Bloom is CeFi but interesting for sure please follow DeFi 201  And add it to the TCR

Sorry, I honestly couldn’t find another better project or one that is worth your time in addition to the ones already presented on your spreadsheet! :grinning:

Hi

I’m enjoying the course but would like to recommend making the lectures smaller chunks of no more than 15 minutes. Thanks for the great content
