DeFi Ecosystem - Discussion

Dear Amadeo, thank you so much for this DeFi course. I am currently working in the microfinance sector and I would love to use the infinite potential power of cryptocurrencies and DeFi for financially include the unbanked, leapfrogging a the traditional banking system and Microfinance Institutions. I would love to know more about what you are doing in the Philippines, hopefully having the chance to meet in person and work together in the future.

Anyway, I found these two DeFi projects involved in Derivatives that are not included in your DeFi ecosystem overview:

  1. Erasure - https://erasure.world/
  2. Veil - https://veil.co/

Cheers

I Agree, this is the reason that I would like it to be included in the DeFI ecosystem overview.
Hopefully it helps us understand the true difference between DeFi and CeFi.
Crypto.com has enough elements on its platform to create the illusion of a Dapp.
As far as I know almost non of the DeFi projects are 100% decentralized due to the complexity of certain functions or the GUI landing page.
As time goes by we are working towards DeFi, but it might take a while before we fully get there.

Airswap seems to be a good project to add to the DeFi Ecosystem overview.

It is a P2P exchange that allows for trading without fees. There is also no need to register or supply any personal details. Just go to their webpage and start trading.

Their address is: airswap.io

Hi Amadeo,

what is the best way to convert fiat to crypto, do I have to use coinbase or crypto.com or similar? what is my best option as a first time user.

Hey man, I totally agree and I have the same issue trying to understand how we can totally cut of the Cefi bridge since we need the fiat liquidity.

Another question I’m trying to figure out how do the bank less say in Africa, India or China convert fiat (cash I assume) in to crypto, don’t they need an initial a CeFi platform/exchange no?

Hi, there! I just started with the DeFi course and I’m really enjoying it.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I was wondering if there is anything in crypto where you can borrow money and payback in monthly settlements?

Thanks!

While I was reading some of the links you posted in one of the last video sessions I found Real T. Where you become the landlord of the future. Investors around the globe can buy into the US real estate market through fully-compliant, fractional, tokenized ownership. Not sure if its on your list Amadeo. Would my answer apply to your question?

Hi Amadeo,

Would like to ask you why DAI interest was APY 8.08% when you did the video and now it is 0.95% on Compound.
Can you please explain to me.
Thanks. Rene

There appears to be a lot of lending available are there any projects that are looking at the mortgage markets?

You can start with any of the centralised exchanges such as Coinbase, Binance, Remitano, localbitcoins, or Crypto.com. Then you can later move into the decentralized platforms.

Hi @amadeobrands and everyone,
I just came across this lending platform on dappradar and I think it’s pretty cool.
What do you think of it?
Thanks for what you are doing.

hi, i am a retailer active in the netherlands…
I would like to know where in the word people are really paying retailers with crypto, there was a example in the course (oxfam bought dai for vanuato islands), i looked at shuttle.
I think people will rapidly use crypto when the national currency has problems (inflation), that why (for example) people use the usd in ecuador. But at the moment the adoption in retail is very little, i think we need an app which allows people to switch rapidly from fiat to crypto, easy and low cost… specialy when inflation would pick up for the euro or usd people would use that a lot… The problem would be that on that moment people would not prefer stable coins but btc, eth, monero things like that…
i would like to hear peoples reaction… thanks
