Activity Lesson 1

Exchange of a piece of friends snacks with a piece of mine, I think it is a fair deal to us then because we both agreed to it and we are happy at the end.

I traded my school lunch dessert for another kids main course… thought it was fair at the time.

Once as a kid I traded my lunch for Pokemon toys. At the time I thought it was totally worth it, but now looking back to how skinny I was it changed my perspective.

My barber transaction as a kid was exchanging my comic books. (new for used) . It all depends on how used is the book or how recent is the serial and issued date. Some exchanges were fair compared to others.

I love Lego. Lego has become a source for creativity but also a source of value as certain sets increase in value over time. I would barter sets of Star Wars and other rare Lego sets. Even normal Lego bricks were easy to trade.

I was offered a toy when i young boy for doing my neighbor lawn and it was good trade as we both got something we wanted.

I swapped a rare trading card that I had multiple of for another rare trading card that I didn’t have and the trader had multiple of.

Yes as we were both getting something we did not have in return.

I exchanged candy for candy when I was a kid in school. Now that I write this, I’m sure a lot of people reading this did the same thing. Looking back it always felt like a fair trade because I gave up candy that I was not very interested in, to a kid who would give me candy that I was more interested in. He/she would do that same thing so both parties won.

As a child, I remember trading pogs or pokemon cards. Sometimes it would be a “two for one deal” depending on how valuable the card is. Also, trading lunches. Sometimes I would be get lucjy and get a nice turkey sandwich for my boring peanut butter which was worth a lot less than the turkey sandwich! lol.

I remember trading cards of the 2002 World Cup, usually it was 1 card for another but if it was a rare card that was hard to get you had to pay 3 or 5 cards sometimes even 10 “normal” cards. I think it was fair because we had to agree to make the transaction happen and both had to gain something in the transaction.

When I was a kid I helped my mom with household tasks to get sweets in a return. Was it fair? I don’t know but I got what I wanted.

my first barter was exchanging toys with my cousins as far as remember and yes I considered it fair trade as I got what I wanted more.

I remember giving away chewy bars in the 3rd grade to my friends; it made them like me more. Retrospectively, it wasn’t a fair exchange because I was trading something tangible for an abstraction: free snacks for friendship, which was so easily given and taken at that age. I remember not wanting to give them something the next time, and they threatened to stop being my friend so I caved in and gave them what they wanted; that time was a Halls Candy cough drop. I had apprehensions at the time since it wasn’t really meant for daily consumption but he wanted it anyway.

I traded my Hoverboard for my friend’s Nintendo Wii U.
A hoverboard would be really nice now, 100% regrets!

traded 2 helium miners for a ethereum mining rig, was a good trade ,bought the miners cheap and sold at marketvalue so had a cheap ethereum rig

My neighbor and I traded mangos for guavas.
I had a mango tree and he had a guava tree.
It was great we both traded something we had extra of, for something neither of us had.

Describe a barter transaction that you’ve been a part either as a child or adult.
List the two items in the barter transaction and, looking back, did you think it was a fair exchange and why?
We used to exchange “barbie” cards, that we collected (I can not think of anything else). And I think it was kind of fair, because we already new which one is more valuable so we exchanged it with a sticker also, or if it was the same level we exchange card for card. In a barter transaction, people already see product, they can see its value so they have no problem of exchanging or asking for more if they think it has more value etc.

My friend and I traded some food (I forgot what it was) but I thought it was fair because the amount we were both receiving was the same.

I remember trading meat for potatoes or salad at primary school. I thought it was fair, each person got x2 of their prefered food and could avoid eating what they didn’t like, plus, the act of sharing was often the beggining of a new friendship.

traded some Pokémon cards for some marbles. At the time it was a good trade, but i can’t remember if the cards we’re special. Some special cards exploded in price the last decade.
