Trading pokemon cards as a child and not knowing the value of my cards, I gave a articuno for a turtwig and didnt realize it until my brother told me
I used to exchange in school done homework for Panami album’s stickers to complete my album. I thought it was fair.
I Used to exchange a bunch of common Pokemon cards against 1 scarce/more valuable Pokemon card.
Back in the primary school time, we traded a lot during the break / lunch time: Sometimes yu gi oh cards or pokemon cards.
I barely remember but I used to change a rarely card to 5-10 normal cards. And also give 5-10 cards to someone to receive a rare item card. And I think, that was fair enough.
I don’t remember bartering anything as a child. I guess I wasn’t that popular. lol !
I am an English teacher and I am also learning several languages myself(apart from javascript here). I offered English lessons to people who would in turn help me with one of the languages I am learning myself(usually their mother tongue). Essentially it’s exchanging one service(tutoring English) for another(tutoring French/German). I consider it a fair exchange, because the services exchanged in this case are very comparable in that they require approximately the same amount of effort and time.
A key barter transaction that i remember as a child was in primary. Where we had a friend who’s mum would always make mini pizza’s for his lunch. These were deliscisious and the owner quickly grew tired of them and would happily exchange with other lunches if they were good. Sometimes a mini pizza could get him fruits, muffins or simply a good tuna sandwhich. Fun times, I always wanted a mini pizza but sometimes i would have to run around trading what i had with something that i knew he wanted in order to get a mini pizza. Sometimes it was fair other times it wasnt, it was clear the mini pizza owner was king at lunchtime!
I recently traded a push mower and 300 dollars for a riding mower that my neighbor no longer needed. It was worth it because we both had a need that the other person was able to fill with out too much complication.
I remember taking paper cheats for a playstation 2 game and giving out 2 games - I really do not think that the value was there but at that moment i really wanted that information - hahaha crazy to think about.
I suppose my first barter transaction was a trade with soccer cards when I was a kid.
Sometimes we change cards on 1:1 ratio or if one of the cards had more value the ratio could be 1:N.
we were kids so I think it was a fair transaction
As a child I use to trade soccer player paper cards with friends. Sometimes for a player I did not have or sometimes for sweets.
When I traded a card against another card it felt mostly fair. When the trade was disproportionate, 1 card against 2 or sometime 3 other cards, then the fairness was very subjective and proportionate to the eagerness to trade. How bad to I want to complete that team with all players ?
Against sweets it was always down to a negotiation, how bad I wanted sweets or how bad my card was wanted by the one bartering for sweets. Not easy to have the right balance and there was always room for one of the party to feel abused proportionally to the eagerness to trade.
School lunches. Somebody had a snack I wanted to taste (cookie), and I had something else in return (chocolate).
Or during cooking workshops, people just sharing some ingredients so other could enrich their saladas.
I think it was a fair exchange, because I was satisfied with what I got. And did not mind on giving away part of my goods.

I traded my old wii console for cash. The exchange was fair because both parties wanted what the other one had and the price was agreed on so both were pleased with the transaction.
As kids we could exchange as a function of sharing. If i had a ball and my firnd had a bike, we could exchange for a short duration so they play with my ball and i ride their bike, We could also exchange toys with one another as a notion of sharing-not trading.During Covid 19, jobs were lost, people had no money but needed food. We got together as friends and took stock of what we each had in our houses as food and what we each needed, so we began to exchange what each one had that the other needed as food. But this got us to rethink value as an intrinsic expression since the measure of value in this exchange was what was intrinsic.

My son plays hockey and is in those fast growing years so we are constantly buying, selling and swapping hockey gear. For the most part fair exchange happens with exception of skates if you purchased brand new and then try to resell them.
Back in the day, as kids we used to exchange new comic books for old ones. Looking back, I realise these were not fair exchanges. The older books should have been more valuable.

A new volley ball for an old phone. It was fair because this phone was old and I had a new one already. My friend had many balls so he could also miss this one. Both of us has no use for the item so it was quite fair because also the price in dollars somehow matched if we would sell it.
Trading hockey cards, some cards where more valuable then others. It could have been fair and unfair exchange. If you didnt know the value of the card. Giving away your priced possion for less than its worth and vice versa.

- When I was young I have traded several cards from the Duel Masters card game collection in exchange for other cards of better value or items like other toys or figurines. Most of the times my transactions were successful but unfair as I had more knowledge of the items I was holding and always tried to obtain better deals leaving the trader that I was dealing with with less valuable items after the trade was done.
it was great time
i remember we were having playing card which had picture on it we use to exchange it with some toy
