For me it was cards and games.
Somehow presents are a way of bartering!?
For me it was baseball cards and Transformers toys - the real og Transformers that is, I was a child of the 80s
I remember trading Marvel cards, I’d trade four standard cards for one hologram card. I think school was a good place to experiment and understand the barter exchange.
I remember when I was in primary school I used to give half of my food to a friend of mine in order to rent his gloves during the winter. being fair or not does not matter in it i guess since we both accepted the deal.
When I was a kid I exchanged my Donatello ninja turtle toy against Splinter…Clearly a rip off!
Yes to school lunches! Also, my older brother used to play a mean game with the french fries where he’d say: “one for you, one for me, two for you, two for me, three for you, three for me…” and so on. But he’d give only one additional fry to me on each count, but add actual 2 fries, 3 fries, 4 fries to his pile each time haha.
Good afternoon, my name is Ysidro and I just joined yesterday. I got into Bitcoin and the crypto atmosphere whenever the pandemic hit. I was just siting at home with nothing to do and I just happened to stumble across Bitcoin again. Well, it led me down a rabbit-hole and ever since then, I cannot stop thinking about it. From the moment I wake up, when I am showering, eating, and before bed.
I did get interested in Bitcoin back around 2014-2015 but brushed it off. Better late than never.
Years ago when I drove a taxi I would give this older Hispanic lady a ride home from their restaurant/market in trade for burritos, tamales, flatas, etc. In my opinion the time and gas I used to get her home safe at night was well worth the delicious Mexican food I traded for.
Describe a barter transaction that you’ve been a part either as a child or adult.
List the two items in the barter transaction and, looking back, did you think it was a fair exchange and why?
As a child, the barter of hockey cards depending if you like the player or not mostly was really unfair considering the market price of the each card if we were kind of advised adults. I trade a Gretsky card (not the rookie one) only because he was not with the Montreal Canadien (yes I am french canadian).

List the two items in the barter transaction and, looking back, did you think it was a fair exchange & why.
I once traded my Sisters Barbie Doll for a GI JOE action figure.
Looking back the transactions was hardly “fair “ being that in the first place said barbie doll was illegally traded as I didn’t have ownership . Other than that at the time I felt the trade swayed in my favour . The barbie couldn’t stand , her heals never touched the ground unless aided by stiletto footwear , her arms had limited movement , and her hands were always opened. She needed multiple add on props to be played with & required regular hair grooming etc. On the other hand The GI Joe action figure had grip hands he could hold things or hang from things , he came with clothing , boots , a parachute pack & weapons holders , there were add on accessories however Joe didn’t need any of those to begin his adventures he was equiped with everything , there was also no need for hair grooming as Joes hair was short & he was to busy being rugged to be concerned about appearance after all 89% off Joes day was in mud , hanging from a tree or hunkered in a sand fortress scoping the enemy.
I guess in conclusion even though the transaction was illegal in the first place, I felt I had the better end of the trade because Joe was value + for me at the time. Even in today’s terms I’d see GI Joe as more valuable than a barbie.
The items I remember most are marbles, baseball cards and action figures.
I remember bartering POGS (worthless cardboard discs that you slammed in piles with a special POG hammer, in competition with classmates for winning more POGS) in school for many valuable things like books. Pretty ridiculous that we thought they were so worthwhile, but so is money, figures

I remember having traded lunches at school.
I can remember multiple times after hurricanes when our communities come together to do different goods and services for people or bartering food for water and visa versa. Hurricanes can be scary but it really shows how people go back to the basics for survival.
I had a small display of some photographs I had taken. An older gentleman came up to me and said he’d like to give me his old camera and lenses since they’ve just been sitting around for years. I gladly accepted and offered him one of my prints. I definitely got the better part of the deal as the gear was worth more than the price I was asking for the print.
I trade chips’ toys which we called tazos , we used to play with it and collect them and I traded with my friends. It was a nice one.
I also traded my playstation cd with my friends unintentionally and i thought it was a great trade since i could play new interesting games
I exchanged cards when I was in elementary school.
The two items were one cricket personality for another. It was a fair transaction because although I had one sports star, I didn’t like him as much as the one I wanted so I traded him in.
When I was in middle school, I exchanged baseball cards with my friends. I also exchanged cartoon figures with my friends. They both were worth barter transactions because they were hard to get and I had extra ones for exchange.
When i was young i do remember trading card for different games and if there was a game card that was more popular than the one that i had. i had to pay it with more cards . I thought that it was fair in that time. Now… well it’s a game but it makes you think about value.
