I used to barter Transformers stickers and Hello Kitty stationeries. I think it’s a fair exchange because it means I don’t have to buy the whole packet in order to complete my collection and the same for my other classmates as well who are also collecting.
Bitcoin is still today no money in the eyes of the mainstream. (at least now)
Because what officially money is, is still determined by the ruling class and the broad acceptance for Bitcoin in is still very low.
Therefore at the moment BTC could perhaps also be seen as a kind of barter system. Maybe I can buy somewhere a car with Bitcoin. But it would be a bad deal for me. Because Bitcoin will go to the moon in the next few years and the value of the car will go to hell.
The barter transaction for a 90’s kids was Matutano cap’s. Probably it wasn’t fair trades when you wanted compete or trade to complete the collection, same as football player cards. That time seems fair to me
I changed bunch of regular basketball cards against one very valueble card. I think it was worth it
Slightly before the start of my teenage years BMX was incredibly popular. I just had to get one. But with no money for that kind of investment I had to trade my touring bike used for transport to school against a BMX and thus ride it to school.

My neighbor accepted a 20 USD worth of my homemade Colloidal Silver in exchange for a minor household repair.
My neighbor accepted a 20 USD worth of my homemade Colloidal Silver (1 quart) in exchange for a minor house repair. It was a good experience because no fiat or tax involved, and it was purely service to service exchange.
Back in college I traded a Knicks Latrell Sprewell jersey for a burberry button down dress shirt. I felt it was a fair trade at the time, they were both priced about the same in USD. I wanted a new dress shirt and my friend wanted a new sports jersey. It was a win win for both of us.
- My barter transaction was a car for another car, i believe it was fair because i wanted the other car and this person wanted my car. so we exchanged cars. Lol
I recall when I had to move to a new apartment I had some friends helping me move that day and I repaid their services by buying the food and beer. Maybe it wasn’t a fair exchange given the amount of work but it was still a form of barter.
Barter transactions at the school yard. Such as pokemon cards, Yo-gi-yo and marbles. And during that time it felt fair. It was just to be aware that older kids wanted to trade, and wanted the one with the most value and trying to get away lightly.
Yes,

As a kid, I traded one Michael Jordan card for about 20 Alonzo Mourning cards, all different brands - was unfair to my friend, I had another copy of that same Jordan card
My neighbor is a finish carpenter. I bought a building that had many boards in the basement. I’ve traded him boards for labor (he helped me install a countertop in our kitchen). We were both, I believe, well satisfied with the transaction.
Describe a barter transaction that you’ve been a part either as a child or adult.
List the two items in the barter transaction and, looking back, did you think it was a fair exchange and why?
When I was a child, i used to collect baseball cards. I really didn’t watch the sport that often but there collectible cards were so attractive to me that i would buy boxes upon boxes of them. I had a couple other friends that also collected baseball cards but they were true fans. Occasionally, we would all get together and trade cards. I always thought that we were making fair trades. I never understood why they would get so excited after a trade with me till I got older. I understood the brands of the card makers and the card production. My friends understood the value of particular players. At the end of the day, they truly knew the value of the cards and would make trades due to my lack of knowledge on some of the up and coming players. There was almost never a fair trade lol.
As a youngster I occasionally used to trade skateboard parts with other skaters. Trucks, wheels, boards etc. It was always worth it because I was trading something I didn’t want or need, for something I did.
I used to exchange sports cards on the elementary school playground with my friends. We each had folders with individual cards in plastic pockets. We took our time to asses which ones were fair trades based on the fame of the players and the condition of the cards
I bartered some Cabbage Patch Kids cards for some of my brother’s Halloween candy. Worth it!
